Flying: Why must we wait until 8.2?

oh look, another person who thinks theyre entitled to flying
Oh, look. Another professional victim who, when victimized by Blizzard, proudly yells "Thank you, Sir! May I have another?"

...Agreed.

I'll do you one better. Let them turn flight off with a 30 day cooldown to turn it back on.

I'd love to see if anyone actually used it. BUT WPVP. Boo hoo you can dismount people.... again!

Since WPvP is now exclusively phased, Blizzard could disable flight.

Another option, is take one of the many empty servers and make it no flight only. Offer free transfers ON to that server. If you ever want off you can pay $$ to Blizzard for that service.

I say give the no-fliers what they want.

Give us fliers what we want.

Everyone happy.

I'd be fine with no flying in warmode. The only time it was done right in my opinion was MoP. Flying in the leveling zones and grounded in the max level areas.
flying in 8.2 in the new zones.

These threads are starting to take up too much bandwidth. Pathfinder was a compromise back in WoD so we would be able to fly. It was used as the standard in Legion. Guess what, it is being used as the standard in BfA. It is a safe bet you will see this cycle repeat in any future expansions.

Regarding end game no-fly zones, they have been around since BC. The repeating argument regarding Tanaan Jungle being a flying zone has no merit. It was driectly attached to the continent and had no loading screen as a transition. If it was made no-fly, we would all plummet to our deaths as we got too close.

Timeless in MoP was an island and being flight free was part of the setting, similar to the continuous mid-day. It was separated with a fatigue expanse with a rather small zone to cross depending on your speed. It could be considered a flawed loading screen.
...cause.

Pathfinder was the petty spiteful time gate the devs put into WoD because the players didn't allow the devs to take out flying going forward. It was never a compromise.

Imagine if the "We want flying NOW" community were just as passionate about things that matter in game, like the desire to improve upon warfronts and islands.

Maybe if a major part of player freedom and fun wasn't used as a time /played metric boost we would focus on other things.

Because they measure the game by a "time played" metric now. Flying likely reduces time played on average, so they want to avoid it as much as they can. They wanted it outright gone, but the backlash to that was too strong, so now we can fly only when the content is basically done anyhow.

This is what's gonna keep happening now that everyone with heart at Blizzard is gone and it's getting assimilated properly into the "money > gamers" policy of Activision.

This is what I kept saying in Legion. Splitting it into two parts, on top of the most pointlessly hazardous and confusing terrain designs I've seen in a game, made it so obvious that they were being spiteful toward us for standing up to them about it.

Entirely subjective. It's not a major part for plenty of people. You should focus player freedom on stuff like how to build your character's talents and cosmetics. You will live until 8.2. Flying from the get-go in current world content cuts out what little world there is left in World of Warcraft.

Compromise: an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. In other words, neither side gets everything they want, or the way they get it.

It IS a major part for plenty of people. If they would just give us flying like we had it in BC/wrath/cata/MoP we wouldn't be here wanting what we had in the past. The fact it's still being so highly discussed means its still an issue.

When did players agree to this? I know I didn't. Flying was never an issue for 8 years until Blizzard made it an issue then expect players to sit back and say oh yea its cool that you want to take my freedom for your on rails time /played increasing new "vision". No.

High Elves are highly discussed.
Removal of raider.io and LFR are highly discussed.
Doesn't mean it's going to happen. Blizzard is right to limit flying at the start of an expansion because, as I've mentioned, it cuts out a lot of the world and cheapens any exploration in an RPG. It also trivializes questing due to increased speed and avoidance of barriers such as water and enemy mobs.

Let's make it super-simple: we as players have purchased the game (it is ours) but are paying (submitting payments) for the ability to play it. We do not own our accounts or anything in them. Blizzard could do a hotfix that eliminates BE and gives all former BE a free race change if they wanted to and we could do nothing about it but quit playing. Voicing our desires in the forums, no matter how much or how "loud" entitles us to nothing (ex: High Elves).

Besides, by the the time flying is released the new content will likely be "no fly" anyways.

Such blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and experience would never 'fly' in
the real workplace world. And the hubris demonstrated by developers who seem to not care in the least what their community thinks astounds me.

oh look, another person who thinks theyre entitled to flying
I completed Pathfinder 1 two months. Hardly entitled.

Do you enjoy timegates as well?

Classic was highly discussed AND had a wall of no every time someone brought it up. Guess we should just give up on asking what we want.

If you enjoy exploring on the ground that's a choice you could make for yourself. The only one that can cheapen your experience is you.

Alright Blizzard wanted to take flying out forever going forward. Players weren't having it so Blizzard had to keep it in the game. If we lay down and just accept the things we don't like in a product we've enjoyed for over a decade then things will never change.

See my classic servers example in my previous post.

True, players were upset with the removal of flying in WoD. Blizzard did eventually decide to allow flying, but rather than with a price tag in past expansions, they compromised by introducing Pathfinder. This set Pathfinder as the new standard/method for obtaining flight.

No, Blizzard is not right. And what inane bull!@#$. Here's a thought, how about you let me decide how I want to experience the game? If I want to "trivialize" questing with flying that's my choice. Also no, it doesn't cheapen exploration. When I can fly I enjoy the gameworld and exploring it. When I can't fly the gameworld is an enemy that I %^-*ing despise as I do my best to avoid it as much as possible while getting what I need done done.
