Flying made game better

Plus you’d wind up dead over the ocean when you got back.

I’m a rogue, I can skip 90% of the “content” you’re describing by using stealth.

So, where are my free purples and mounts?

The reason I keep saying you don’t like MMOs is that you keep acting like half of what constitutes an MMO isn’t part of the game. Walking is part of the game. What you call commuting is playing as normal. To go back to the soccer analogy, it’s like if you said running between the goal posts was just filler.

The point of the flight points is that they put you in a safe area. It’s then up to you to make your way to your target destination. With flying you go to the destination. Period. Full stop. The fast travel points have limitations that keep them from removing a fundamental aspect of the game.

No you’re right, I should have said “in my opinion”. And there was no reason for you to delete your response

I’d be down with sky combat. But they would need to have that be a system in itself as well and not something that’s watered down and half baked like the mount equipment system. And I actually think they could with the engine that we have now. It doesn’t have to be anything extreme just some form of interaction between the mount and the player.

What’s wrong with enhancing the experience? My suggestion doesn’t hinder how it exists now.

I’ll fly across a zone but I’m not piloting a continent

Yes, you are a rogue. Your Role gives you abilities that let you handle obstacles, a la terrain and mobs with stealth grappling hooks, etc. That is how it works in a Role Playing Game. Like, do I really have to keep spelling it out for everyone? I guess this generation is just doomed to think games are buying cash shop rewards and teleporting into LFR.

Let me fix your analogy, walking to the field from home is the filler.

That is not how it works in a role playing game. Do we have to keep spelling it out for you?

I’m with Blizz when it comes to flying.

They, and I, feel it was a mistake. It changed players’ perception of what the game is and should be. And it changed players’ expectations regarding the pace it should be played at.

Nowadays if something takes more than 10 minutes? “F that”. No patience. No attention span.

“Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

And that’s what we’re left with now. I wonder what would happen if From Software suddenly added flying to a new Dark Souls. Then you could just fly over all the hard mobs.

I don’t have to think too hard to imagine what would happen.

Well I’ve heard a alot of people mentioning this flight combat mechanic and putting guardians all over the skies and things like that. I’m assuming they mean something like you have in Mechagon.

So basically you guys want to dogfight on mounts? Have some goblins attach missiles? Could be a neat idea in a confined area but not all over the place.

My generation?

Dear child, I’m 50 years old. I don’t have time for you whippersnappers and your “notions.”

For WoW to really make flying work, sky combat would need to feel just as good as ground combat honestly. There would need to be other types of obstacles as well, like gusts of wind, mountains that are too high for you to fly over etc.

What does this have to do with flying? I dont think the OP said a thing about instant gratification.

Now most games in general have increased the speed and ease of rewards. I do get what your saying, but it has nothing to do with flying in WoW.

Ugh. You continue to prove you don’t actually want to play the game dude. Just stop. You do not want a challenge, you want to speed up your time to logout.

MoP had some flight mechanics from the area you raised your mount up. It was a fun little side game but it’s not something I want to have all over the world and deal with every time I want to mount up and get to another area in a zone.

Yes I know, you don’t want to play the game. I get it.

In zones that make sense for that sure. I’m not suggesting that all over the place. In the videos I linked there wasn’t a single hint of combat until the player landed on the ground. And with the Skyscale they breathed fire on the landing location which I thought was pretty sick.

You’re just kinda nasty aren’t you?

I’m sorry you don’t enjoy flying, many of us do. Being rude isn’t going to convince us otherwise.

Ow, my heart…

You may want to clean that up.

Astria’s just a troll, don’t let them win.
