Flying is 'at a nice middle ground'

Yes, that makes them lazy and wanting it on a silver-plate. Maan how were we blind to that… /sarcasm

Shush! Next thing you know, we’ll have to go circle Azeroth 100x, gather Khadgar’s whisker… kill 400 turtles and beat Jaina while naked and only equipped with a club on all difficulties before we can unlock the faster riding skill.

Could you find another argument, other than the usual ‘oh its just a game’, to use whenever you get backed into a corner?
not very original.

Nothing would surprise me, Spot. Seems like they find new ways every expansion to make it a painful experience. “So, we had you grind in WoD for flight, we had you grind twice (not once, because we are sadists) in Legion for flight, and we so enjoyed that, we’ve done it again in BfA.” And then they sit down to figure out what other hoops they can have us leap through. Pathfinder Part 3 perhaps?

It may involve going back to Nomi for the Impossible to Get for Opening Flight recipe…

Does anyone log in to just fly? Is it really that engaging? I personally have never been like I am going to log on to WoW to just fly around. The gameplay just isn’t designed to be much more then a convenience. If flying is what makes a game worth playing then you could do much better. I personally fly around in Star Citizen. Much better flying fix.

And being able to go out and see the world more easily makes it easier to see more of the world instead of being stuck in whatever limited routine you have.

Burn the land and boil the sea, you can’t take the sky from me.

Shudders at the thought of a Pathfinder pt 3 :face_vomiting:

Ironically I remember a past Q&A in Legion where Ion was thinking they could of added a few MORE things to the list of things to do…

Ideally I’d love to go back to the pay w/ Gold option… if you are going to do a Pathfinder… why not just do the zones fully and wam-bam-thank you 'mam.

Instead I feel it’s like they are these comical mustache twirling villains which stand around and brainstorm more things for Pathfinder and after each new requirement, they laugh manically and twirl their mustaches… lol

Well, no. Then again, when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I think of isn’t “Yeah, my car is out in the driveway, I have to get up and dressed and go drive it somewhere!”.

No, but after a few times, I’ve seen it once, I’ve seen 'em all and that goes triple for WQ’s and flying really made it felt more tolerable to do them after a while back in Legion.

Flying used to be something that unlocked additional content instead of being just a reward. Gone are the days of floating islands and reputations built on flying.

And a “significant amount of time” is very subjective and can mean different things for different people. A year of running around on the ground is way too long for me.

Is this that “sense of pride and accomplishment” I’ve heard so much about?

“People are just lazy”

We’d just like flight implemented like it was before pathfinder.
Taking away flight and then time gating it doesn’t make the game better.

I was actually thinking of that. Went back to wowhead and looked up the original requirements for flight in Pandaria, since I’m getting old and losing my my mind (possibly due to Pathfinderitis).

All you had to do was seemingly get to level 90, get into the Vale (either through questing to open it or just jump right down there), and buy the book for 2,000g (or less with certain rep) and slam bang thank you ma’m, you could fly.

Apparently back then this was considered good. Now it is not considered good. Why is that, anyhow?

It’s a shame that the people who hate flying didn’t take that advice when flying was easily available. Yet here we are with all the members of the peanut gallery out in force telling other people they should be the ones to quit.

Can’t say the same for my experience… when I finally got it in Legion… man was I glad it was over and lamented the giant idiot whoever thought of having that introduced and giving me a chance to do it after several loooong months because somehow flying needs a part 2… HOW COULD I BE SO BLIND… not only do I need a part 1, I need a part 2 in my life to make it complete… /sarcasm

This is true. They didn’t compromise, they did damage control and pulled a fast one.

“Sure, you can fly. But only in irrelevant content once a new no-fly zone is released.”

For all intents and purposes they removed flight from the game in any area that is current/relevant.

For a long time now, I’ve had 13 alts that matter to me. One of each class, and one on the other faction. And I typically had flying unlocked the day of (or day after) the patch that allowed it, having done all the possible requirements early.

I still had 10 alts to level up when I got pathfinder in MoP.
I had 8 alts to still level up when I got flying in WoD.
I had 6 alts to still level up when I got flying in Legion.
Looking very much like I’ll have ZERO alts left to level up when/if we ever get flying in BFA.

That is not ‘middle ground’ to me. Not even anywhere close.

I do not know good Gnome… I do not know why that is… but I guess we should start throwing some ideas over to head honcho Ion so that we can have more things to work towards… like a 6 part set of requirements, spread over 1.5 years for being able to leave our starting zones… or maybe even the ability to run ‘cause we all know we have to learn to walk before we can learn to run… wouldn’t that be a grand ol’ reward to work towards and achieve!! :exploding_head: :man_dancing: :running_man:

Achievement to unlock it isn’t the problem.

The problem is the obnoxious amount of a time gate on it.

It’s not in a good place, and it’s not in a good compromise. It’s just making the game feel like a degraded junk pile without flight that utterly ruins immersion by making you want to alt-tab out of the game while on flight paths, instead of remaining in control and staying immersed in the game.

It’s crap.
