You can work on both part 1 and part 2 at the same time. In fact, I’d recommend it. Get far enough along to unlock Naz’jatar and Mechagon so you can at least to any Naz’jatar Emissaries that pop up as well as the Mechagon daily world quest while you’re working on the questing and exploration requirements from part 1.
