Flying... Here's the truth

Flight form has been with druids for a long period of the game’s history. Unless you know something I don’t know let us all know. Thanks.

You clearly haven’t been reading the posts in this thread. Smh…

Taking out content or/and locking it behind crap isn’t right. Especially when it’s been in the game for YEARS without issues.

And nice editing my post. Players like you make this community wonderful.

Play through all the content in a few months now stay on the ground for another 8-10 on ONE character. Ya that makes sense.

Alt posting holds no weight.

What is the problem with flying? They used to make cool stuff that required or encouraged flying. What happened? I liked having to fly to dungeons or raid zones. Why don’t they make the world three dimensional and incorporate flying into the questing and zone fun. I would have thought three dimensional world design would provide more creative options to the game designers rather than less. I don’t get it. What changed that the designers have lost the creative inspiration to design questing and world design around flying?

When they announced in WoD that they really wanted the user to experience the game and whatever I was like “you know, as a developer myself I get it. They spent time making this, and they want people to experience it.”

The thing is, once I get a character to max level, I’ve experienced the story. It doesn’t change for me when I level the next character, which at that point all I want to do is level that character. I am no longer reading the quests, I no longer am surprised by the outcomes — I’ve seen it all before on my first character. My interest is now solely on getting this alt to max level so that I can get it geared.

In WotLK near the end there was an heirloom item people could get in order to unlock flight for an alt they were trying to level – that seemed fair to me because in order to buy that item you needed your character to be at max already, and to have the gold to buy “Cold weather flying” again (I don’t even remember how much it was but honestly Blizz could double the cost of that and I’d pay it if it meant I didn’t have to do pathfinder again).

In Cataclysm I had 5 characters I raised to max level. In WoD I had 2 (didn’t really play Pandaria). In Legion I got up to 3 because character boost. So far in BFA? I’ve only leveled 2. Maybe now that I’ve finally unlocked flying that will change. You killed my engagement with a game that I’ve played for almost 14 years largely because of the loss of flying.

I said this in another thread but I think it’s fitting here, too.

I sure wish anyone at Blizzard would look at this thread with nearly 900 likes on it and look into making literally any changes at all to Pathfinder.

But again, I have very little hope left that that will happen.

They have not the slightest care about what we say. They aren’t wrong in their eyes. Pure stupidity. Pure spite. Pure arrogance. Ever since WoD. It’s never going to change with as long as we have the devs that we currently have

Mission tables.

Warfronts.

Island expeditions.

That is what a no flying WoW looks like. More instances, smaller worlds and a poor rep/world quest system.

Exactly. It’s a sad thought

The key is to give consistent feedback that this isn’t good enough. I have seen buckling on many rigid positions. For example players rejected Argus far and wide which is why the end game zones in BFA you can fly in. Also, the world quest revamp which I presume will have a rep revamp tied to it in shadowlands.

But the key is consistent and early feedback. Without that early feedback it is hard to change things once set in motion. Fortunately shadowlands will feature a much more lengthy alpha/beta process so there is time. But players need to keep posting with consistency logical arguments that are simple to digest for the design team.

I think people have been pretty consistent that we’re willing to compromise with the devs if they let us fly in the expansion release zones after completing Pathfinder Part 1, people hating the time gating for a year seems to be a very common sentiment that I hope the devs don’t ignore.

I’ve also seen a lot of people be consistent about hating the rep grinds and asking for alternative ways to grind rep, like with tabards. I would enjoy that and I hope people hammer that point more so the devs take notice.

At this point I just hope any changes are made to Pathfinder at all, after 3 expansions of the same awful Pathfinder and the devs thinking it’s fine while there’s been constant negative feedback given about it for 3 expansions straight, I am rightfully and understandably losing hope. I would love it if the devs could restore my hope in them caring about our feedback.

There’s no real reason other than the pure spite and animosity towards flying. Completing the storyline and may e unlocking the “fog of war” on the new zones should be the only requirements. Reputation has no place in regards to flying.

I completely agree with you. I have been so disgusted with how flying has been done in this game. I bought this expansion. Got pathfinder part one then canceled my sub until I could get pathfinder part two. I just unlocked flying. I refuse to pay anymore than I have to to Blizzard. I’m not subbing for a year and waiting for flying. I also refuse to buy any of their other games, pets, mounts etc. I refuse to give them but the bare minimum needed to play. I LOATHE what they have done.

so, classic? It would be funny to see a server 100% comprised of pet battlers and lfr heroes.

I was having plenty of fun without flying. I’m still having fun with flying. You guys are so overly dramatic that it’s no wonder you’re not taken seriously.

Taking major parts and aspects of the game and hiding them behind hate walls… That’s what’s getting under our skin.

Good for you. Some of us are tired of one of our favorite features be locked behind the biggest time gate in wow’s existance.

Neither DHs nor rogues can fly so your analogy falls a bit flat.

But it is frustrating when your class has a built-in flight capacity you can’t use.

I remember during WoD doing a quest on my druid where the quest giver was also a druid I was supposed to meet at the quest location. The NPC gave instructions, then sprouted wings and flew off. I rode my ground mount to meet up with them.

le sigh.

But DH can still glide and Outlaw Rogues still can use grappling hook to go up terrain.

So the analogy isn’t ideal but it is good enough to explain how Druids fantasy of flying is trampled on while other classes are not restricted in such ways.

In fact there were plenty of complaints about Outlaw Rogue grappling hook not working Argus that they eventually changed it.
