They will try to bait you by triggering you as much as possible and in general make your life as hard as possible without violating ToS.
So like what trolls do here on the forums.
That passive aggressive stuff is countered by the ignore button.
It’s worse. Trolls here do it to your face openly.
FFXIV forums … they do everything to frustrate the discussion until you snap and get a forum vacation.
Well, like most things, that bit is up to you innit?
I have deserved almost every one of my silences here.
Yeah this is what happens on forums with no human moderation actually looking at the thread. It will happen on every forum like that, that’s how intelligent communication works, without eyes monitoring it it is susceptible to human BS.
That’s why I insta ignore people. You don’t even reply.
You also need to have hard forum rules like “no derailing” and actually enforce it and they haven’t figured out how to do it with AI yet.
The problem? Folks value their time, so there is pressure to do the content and get the rewards faster. The only way to solve this IMO is to require less content (ex. lower vault requirements), which… kind of is generally the opposite of what blizz wants and folks would complain of being bored. Folks get especially toxic when they feel like they’re forced into a gameplay loop (m raiders who don’t want to do keys, m+ players whose BIS is in raid…) Mechanics like Dinar / puzzling cartel chips give the playerbase what they want but even I can’t deny that there is a dip in participation as soon as they release.
I agree with others that a rating system would only lead to more toxicity.
I love the idea of a mentorship system, I feel like it’s always nice but it also organically happens in guilds.
We’ve done a lot to lower toxicity in terms of pressure already - keystone levels are better with resilient keys, vault is rewarded whether the dungeon is timed or not, crest rewards are more generous, and the abandon system allows groups to dissolve with mutual agreement.
For better or worse we’re moving into midnight with much fewer interrupts, cc’s, and personal defensives available.
i don’t think that guilds have declined at all but I think guild incentives would be great, and I really like all of your suggestions in section C.
Depends if you are up to playing mind games on a video game forum.
I rather just get my point across in a straightforward manner than practice verbal tai chi.
Toxicity is unpleasant in all its incarnations but in WoW if someone has a problem with you, you will know it.
What level of content are you seeing this stuff in? Because I’ve only seen it in leveling content (remix not included) and even then rarely see it there either. But ymmv.
What keeps people from just constantly rating each other to earn whatever rewards? You add a system like this, that can be at all remotely trolled by anyone, then people who can be harmed by it won’t want to participate. And before anyone says people wouldn’t do it, S4 shadowlands dungeon voting, the forums were full of people talking about picking the absolute worst dungeons for luls.
I mean interupts and CC usage are to some extent already counted for by the clock. You die, then the timer adds 5-15 seconds.
This will have very little relevance to good players and punish lower end players and those helping them significantly more. Also neutering challenging content for the sake of leveling content seems awful.
I genuinely disagree with most everything you’ve said here.
I can agree the death of casual AotC guilds being a bummer. But AotC guilds died because AotC isn’t hard to acquire via pugging, and not everyone wants to deal with guild politics and honestly a lot of pugs are outperforming AotC guilds.
Honestly I would hate this because sometimes people make mistakes and 9 out of 10 times it’s not a big deal. I’ve seen people on this forum rage about they pull it they tank it, but I’ve actually never seen anyone get toxic in a key over this. Thats not even a joke, I’ve literally never seen anything but a sorry/sry and just deal with it.
What I want them to do to address this is just make the instances shorter. Less bosses basically, especially the raids.
Yeah I’ve never seen it in a key, people generally behave in them from my experience, I wouldn’t have this mechanic be turned on in a key, it would be like a special affix for queued content.
But you would need to make tanks better if you did something like that, none of this wishy washy crap with AOE, just give every single tank a hard hitting instant AOE spell that is consistent and isn’t a circle you put on the ground.
the LFR heroes are working over time on this thread to fill the dumb ideas cota …
do you even do keys ??
This would be great honestly. I would really love if we had two 4 boss raids instead of 1 8 boss raid. It would make organizational overhead much better (regarding lockout management)
Valuing time isn’t the problem. The problem is we’ve had somewhere around 10-20 years of being trained by video games to not value the fun of actually playing the game, in favor of tickling the Skinner Box part of our brain with “rewards”.
Requiring less content won’t fix the problem. Those “RUSHRUSHRUSHGOGOGOGOOGOGOGO” people will still be just like that, only for less time.
The guild is the incentive. Good grief, why the Helya are people joining guilds if not to play with people in the guild?!? The whole point is to have access to a pool of players who think and play like you do to make assembling a group easier.
I like the game a lot, WOW isn’t even the worst skinner box out there. But the way the rewards are structured specifically around time gating and FOMO folks feel punished if they don’t do x amount of content within the lockout or timeframe and that makes the toxicity worse IMO
It’s not a crime to like more stuff. I always am greedy for more stuff. I’m also an introvert, which doesn’t change when I’m in game either haha.
I’m a fan of Blizz making it so if you finish a row on your vault, the other 2 get reduced. Kill 2 bosses, do 4 dungeons and 8 delves, you’ll unlock 2 boss loot and 3 dungeon loot and 3 delve, since you capped delves.
I would assume it would lower engagement levels but maybe some people would play more alts if they could reasonably get more loot even if it meant running 8x +2 delves.
I would be happy if vault was linear instead of exponential. But i understand some folks don’t like that. Your suggestion does take away the pressure to do a content mode that folks don’t like though.
edit: but i don’t see that working out for the raid doors so the m+ people would be upset probably
edit2: not everyone is an altoholic / enjoys playing multiple toons so that wouldn’t be a plus for them
Do you even read? I said it would be turned off in keys. Ignored. Also why are you teenagers so rude these days? No reason for it.
do you even do m+ cause this would cause a wipe most of the time, even if the tank try to fix a “over” pull ( that 99% of the times happen by mistake)
