Can you do something about the customer support window in the game?
It takes 5-10 minutes to load up, sometimes longer. Don’t try to blame my internet because I can watch a HD movie while it is streaming. This is an issue with your bug report system in the game.
It fills virtually the entire screen so you can’t see what is going on around you.
When you are in pvp, a dungeon, or just out in the field and need to submit a possible bug report, you get killed while waiting for the window to load up. This has been going on ever since you changed it (many years ago). It is a flawed design that appears to be deliberately set up so players get fed up with waiting and just shut the window and don’t submit the bug report.
The old style of bug reporting was fine and loaded up instantly. It didn’t take up the entire screen. You could fill it in and keep any eye on what is happening around you. This new one is crap.
IT SHOULDN’T TAKE 10 MINUTES TO LOAD A WINDOW TO SUBMIT A BUG REPORT.
I have even tried to submit a bug report thru the ticket system but that doesn’t work because it’s bugged. And you have it set up to send players round and round in circles. It is virtually impossible to submit a bug report via the ticket system.
Having stuff like this in the game is why people leave this game. They get fed up and frustrated with the stupid ideas you lot implement, and so annoyed with the systems in place, they just leave.
First off, you don’t submit tickets to report bugs. You use the bug report tool in-game or post on the aptly named Bug Report Forum. The GM staff who answer tickets do not fix bugs.
Alternatively you can post a bug report on the forums if you are having issues with the client menu. There’s also the mirror to the support system on the website. Link on top of the webpage on PC, and a left drop down on mobile. A ticket wouldn’t be necessary for bugs.
On the subject of your suggestion itself – I suggest you edit your first post to move this thread to General Discussion. I believe this would be a matter for the developers to review (someone please correct me if I’m wrong), and the blues who monitor the Customer Support forum can’t forward this feedback to the dev team. General Discussion, however, is monitored for dev team feedback.
There is no real suggestion there. The OP most likely needs to do a full UI reset to fix some corrupted files as I have mediocre internet and the bug report option loads up fairly quickly in-game for me. Since they are stating it is a bug, then they would post in the bug report forum where the QA department takes such things directly to the devs if a bug can be verified.
I half disagree. You might be correct about the cause of the excessively long loading times, and I agree they should put that part in the bug report forum if a full UI reset doesn’t fix it. However, they also refer to the size of the window being obtrusive and frustrating – which I happen to kind of agree with them on. I think the support menu could be better designed to integrate into WoW and take up less space rather than looking like a webpage that’s been pasted over the game window – especially when all you’re trying to access is the fields to submit a suggestion or bug report.
I’ll probably make my own suggestion about it through the in-game tool at some point.
I reset my computer after the xpac because the Battlenet launcher wouldn’t work and I ran around jumping through hoops doing what Blizz web pages told me to do. Nothing they said fixed the battlenet launcher so I reset my computer and reinstalled everything from scratch, including the game and battlenet launcher. The battlenet launcher then worked and I updated the game and could use it. So if there is a problem with my UI, then it is not my fault because my computer is clean, had a full reset 2 weeks ago, and is used for nothing but the game and this forum.
And it’s not my monitor either. I have a brand new 2 month old acer monitor I bought and it is set on whatever the default is (I think 2400 x 1280 or whatever it is).
One: Most ISPs will give priority to streaming since it’s so popular now.
Two: The route your connection takes to get to YouTube, Netflix, etc., is different from the route to Blizzard. Anything can get in the way between where you are and where they are.
Three: What steps have you taken so far to troubleshoot that loading time? Have you done a full UI reset? Temporarily disabled your antivirus? Tried the bug report section on a web browser instead of in-game? Etc.
You really need to stop making an excuse for literally every response or suggestion.
If the window may be too big or inconvenient, then take steps to accept that it may be too big or inconvenient. Not everything has to fall on the player’s shoulders.
I also agree that the support window is too big and takes too long to load, I’m not going to buy an entirely new monitor just to get around it. Some things can be improved.
What excuses are you talking about. I don’t need to make any.
It does if the player has their resolution set up to where it causes it to be to big. I was trying to help the poster with their technical issue. Sorry that you don’t know about troubleshooting.
Your posts are not helpful if you include dismissive and condescending points, as proven by your last statement of “Sorry that you don’t know about troubleshooting”.
You made an assumption then by saying their resolution is at fault, even after another player agreed the window is too big, but failed to really consider their response.
Don’t “sorry” me. That comment itself is largely unwarranted.
So, giving a possible reason that the window is to large is not helpful?
Pot meet kettle. Sorry if you don’t like the responses, but you necroed this thread to try and insult me. I was giving basic troubleshooting possibilities, which might have been helpful, and seems like it probably was since the thread had already died.
It’s not helpful if the “possible” reason is immediately dismissing the suggestion. We can all agree that the player can take the steps to fix the issue on their part, but if something can be improved from Blizzard’s end then that shouldn’t be a problem (ie make the window interactable, drop the webpage aspect, remove images from the “browse topics” because that’s a factor in loading times, etc)
The thread has been posted on December 1st. Necroing usually involves a month or more. We don’t know if the person fixed the problem, so I’d avoid making more assumptions. I did not try to insult you, but I can see it was a bit direct, for that I apologise.
Mine takes like 45 seconds to load the “help” section. I only know because I’ve clicked it over a dozen times thinking it was the macro/system menu thing ever since they changed the UI Icons lol.
I’ve always just used the bug report forum through here, it feels like the in-game menus want to discourage you seeking help with all the “look on wowhead dummy” links they throw at you constantly
Troubleshootoing 101 states that the simplest solution is often the best, and that would be the end users resolution being changed rather than Blizzard changing something and possibly breaking something else in-game by doing so.
