Five races you choose for next expac for both factions

Alliance need Tauren, and I think Horde should have all the other races except Tauren removed, and also do that to the Alliance. Basically I’m saying everyone should be Tauren.

I say add Drakonid for both factions.

Alliance:

  1. Sylvar
  2. Kyrian/Forsworn
  3. Dryads & Keepers
  4. Venthyr
  5. Necrolords

Horde:

  1. Venthyr
  2. Necrolords
  3. Ogres
  4. Kyrian/Forsworn
  5. Sylvar

Ideally the covenant races would be or start off neutral.

I kinda wish we had our own version of warforged. I had this neat idea where souls in the shadowlands would want to help out so they inhabit some kind of metal or stone body that allowed them to crossover.

Just in case some of ya’ll don’t know what I’m talking about.

Other than that I just wish Murlocs were an option

Arrakoa and Sethrak are at the top of my list after Vulpera (so technically already got my top pic)

third on my list is the 4-8 main covenant races. im sure there is some way we can get them into a mortal plain of existence. we basically have the tools once we beat the jailer… as long as we dont go breaking the machine of creation.

I’d be happy if they just scaled armor better on the existing races so they didn’t mostly look dumb and awkward.

Let’s hear more from you guys!

Cross faction play is not a faction merger, there will still be factions, just end-game stuff can be played cross faction as far as I can tell.

Random groups will be faction only also.

List made mostly on whim. Faction lore aside, most of these races I would like in some fashion.

Alliance:
Titanforged Mechagnomes
Vrykul
Broken Draenei
Sethrak
Jinyu/Ankoan

Horde:
Ogres
San’lyn
Saurok
Mogu
Nerubians

Nerubians is an odd choice, how do think they would work?

God that would be so good for the future races. Assuming Blizzard wants to dive into their world building.

From a lore perspective: In Dragonblight, the Horde has some interactions with the still living Nerubians and it seems to imply that an alliance was on the table:

h ttps://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/An_Enemy_in_Arthas

We are in the midst of a civil war. At the heart of this world the last living members of my species defend themselves against total annihilation. The Lich King seeks to rule the kingdom of Azjol-Nerub at any cost. Those that do not acquiesce are branded enemies of the Scourge and marked for death.

In Arthas we both have an enemy…

Join our cause and rid this place of the taint of Anub’ar! Let Anub’arak himself hear the anguish of their death cries!

h ttps://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Lost_Empire"

You have proven that you are willing to assist the Azjol Empire in its time of need and as such the Azjol Empire will assist the Horde.

Take this scroll back to your leader. It documents the strengths and weaknesses of the Nerubians attacking Icemist Village. Consider it a gesture of good faith - a willingness to help your people. Use the knowledge on those pages to crush the Anub’ar and you will have done a service for us all.

Farewell, [race].

It’s not much, but I don’t see it as retcon snarl to say it was the Horde that primarily took the fight to the Scourge in Azjol-Nerub, and the Nerubians remember that, forming a basis for allying with the Horde.

From a gameplay perspective: Unless Blizzard really wants to experiment with the idea of centaur race bodies, one could easily justify giving the Nerubians mantid like humanoid bodies that would make it easier for them to be playable. Evolution is more like guidelines than rules to Aqir races, so I think it would be a clever work around to the whole centaur spider body issue. Players characters could basically be a new generation of Nerubians, the new humanoid form they are born with being a carefully selected and bred one for balance and adaptation for the future of their race.

While this is true, I think it’s important to draw conclusions based on potential trends.

What this tells me is that, for the foreseeable future, faction loyalty isn’t going to be super important. Blizz doesn’t have to go “okay, what’s an amazing race we can give Alliance to balance out the players” since Alliance players can just join Horde groups in endgame content anyway. Given that fact, it makes little sense to attempt to come up with hamfisted reasons to why a race would choose one faction over the other when it doesn’t have any pre-existing reason to do so.

On your list alone, this would apply to the naga, vrykul, arakkoa, and saberon. If players of those races can freely join groups anyway, what’s the rationale behind inventing reasons for them to pick a faction in lore?

Keeping them neutral seems to make the most sense.

  1. Random groups don’t get that luxury, they are still faction bound.

  2. Players will retain the option to lock out of cross-faction groups, because of this there will still need to be race balance checks for both factions.

  3. Faction story will still be a major thing in WoW and will most likely not change, even with cross faction grouping.

  4. At the least for Naga and Vrykul, they would have reason for the choices I stated, Naga suffers from the same mana hunger as BE’s do, stated in the WC3 storyline (blood elf campaign) and had created ties with blood elves, it would make sense for them to join horde on top of the fact NE’s do not like the Naga. Vrykul, stating they are the ones from broken isles, has reason to not join horde due to sylvannis’s campaign against odin. Odin would not be ok for the vrykul to join the faction that tried to steal his valkyr from him, specially since it was the queen valkyr they tried to take. The other 2 is arguable though.

  5. There will be races, even if not listed here, that will favor one faction or the other regardless and would make 0 sense to join the horde or be neutral, such as furbolgs or half-elves.
