Remember when Justice and Valor, back then Emblems/Badges, were a thing? You could buy usable gear by spamming solo content.
Somewhere around WOD, the core system changed away from JP/VP in wake of the daily riots.
I ask, why? Simple. So that it shows to me WoW is suffering to my face now, in Shadowlands, with the worst of both worlds.

I am genuinely confused about this problem. Has there ever been a way to gear that didn’t involve playing the game? Does OP mean like the lack of world quests that give valuable drops? Or reps that give valuable items?

Even FF14, which has a play with NPC party option so you don’t have to group with other people, doesn’t give the best gear dungeon gear you can get.
So essentially what you want, is a way to run M+ by yourself, or add a random mythic+ finder.
Yes. And the amount of EMMOPB’s against it is staggeringly large.
Who says? The game has never been that way. You ALWAYS had other gearing paths besides grouped content. So sick of hearing the false narrative that MMORPG means grouped content! Its so false! I am just amazed how many players fall for that crap!

It was removed and then brought back in Pandaria to give upgrades to your gear. Again, you have a Covenant set you can upgrade to 197 ilvl that covers all armor slots for free. You can get trinkets and rings from your table, and upgrade of WQ rewards can cover all slots including weapons. Again, not seeing the issue when the game just hands you the gear in the same manner.
Group finder for m0 would be GREAT! But after that, i agree you need to find a capable group!
They advocate for MMO Purism, they bootlick, and are typically Elitist.
So, they deserve the name for so long as they cling to that idea.

The covenant set even outgears m0 now. There’s your gear outside of group content.

But… but it’s easier than ever to get gear. You have almost full sets that you can upgrade from your covenant, plus literally a full set of items to get even just with honor points in pvp. Again with a clear and easy upgrade path.
Is it really? I mean, it only feels fair to say that since you keep shooting down ideas against Raid or Die.
Did you start playing in Legion or something? The game most certainly has not always had other gearing paths.
Before Legion, gearing up meant raid or die.

I don’t need high gear for just my pve. I know that, and i’m ok. I have my full covenant gear .upgraded them all to 190, and today off my calling i actually got a 197 Epic one hander for my girl. I’ve bought a few things off the AH. Is all good for doing what i like. Stuff is out there…sometimes it;s slow, but it’s out there!

You’re delusional. You can get 184 ilvl gear from WQs which is solo and if you want high level gear, do high level content. You don’t see people asking for Top 500 rewards in overwatch without being top 500.
