Speculative picks round 3 (no beta):
Overall, the pathing for the havoc tree has greatly improved.
I like that the glaive talents are mostly their own vertical line, immo / dot AoE its own line, momentum its own line.
It’s hard to justify taking netherwalk or fel eruption or any other utility talents, due to so many throughput talents competing for that point.
I’m still concerned about blur being a level 50 talent, that’s a lot of leveling without a basic defensive.
Maybe make blur baseline for havoc at a 90s cd and that talent spot reduces it to 45s?
A 1m cd is a nerf from shadowlands’s 45s cd with 278 conduits.
Desperate Instincts is actually a detrimental effect, no one should take it, let alone be a max investment talent.
If it worked like cheat death then an HP trigger would make sense, but for a DR you press it before the damage happens rather than after.
Would be nice to see something better in this position.
Darkness used to be a 2m cd; raised to 5m or 3m here.
We also go from 20% magic DR to 4%, and we lost 5% leech from soul rending at some point.
I suppose these defense reductions are to balance out the offense increases in the spec tree.
I guess the plan is to aura tune damage down in PvP to avoid instant faceplanting.
Beginning of expac I’d expect to see higher HP mobs and players but lower stat percentages, so everything could feel slower and tankier anyway I guess.
Vengeance picks (only tank very casually):
I don’t have my hands on beta so I can’t remark on what the end result feels like.
I like that there seems to be finer control over amount of defense vs offense.
Vengeance felt like paper to me during shadowlands and lacked sufficient defensive cds; kiting greatly reduces the party’s dps and your ability to self sustain through dots.
The magic defense was solid but the majority of damage in a dungeon is physical melee attacks for which veng had little mitigation.
I wish spirit bomb was easier to reach, to me it seems like a core talent and something I pick 99% of the time.
I like that darkglare lives on in the vengeance tree, with a lower variance to boot. I will miss getting 5+ back to back eyebeams, but the improved CoH and destiny are better replacements in practice for havoc.
I didn’t find soul carver very compelling during legion, but maybe its more of a pvp talent for getting kills?
