I queue as both tank and dps. So I can tell you that the queue times are very much different for the 2 roles. Not massively like a dungeon. But I’d say dps time is about twice that of a tank. But that’s still minutes.
I’ve done it at least a dozen times this year as DPS and at weird times and never waited more than five minutes.
I didn’t even know you could wipe on him.
Bet that group could lose a war front too LOL

It is legit only my mage. All my other toons, 2 to 3 min.
i’ve died twice so far this year, but no wipes as the group downed HH before i made my way back on both runs

It’s easy to forget what being undergeared and inexperienced feels like until you get a whole party in old quest gear that they’ve outlevelled.
(Hasn’t happened to me this year, but i did have one run tanking where I ran over, started the encounter and then nobody else joined in until the end of the second phase)
You should have gotten a world first achievement for that! Lol!
I have never had a wipe on HH, even had groups where I had full gear and the rest of the party came in wearing nothing at all punching with fists and downed the boss.
The only way you wipe is if you totally disconnect or afk, I just find it inconceivable, but not impossible that a wipe could happen.
If you’re going to queue as a tank, you should probably take a tad more personal responsibility and know what you’re doing first.
To be fair, it would be great if everyone took a tad more personal responsibility, but you can manage through when a DPS is derping it up a lot easier then when the tank is.

How’s that even possible? I que as heals and go shadow and we don’t wipe.
I think the scaling gets borked sometimes.
I have had tanks that I could not keep alive and ended up resto tanking it for the kill.
Never had an issue as a tank though.

Must not have had a hunter in the group, my Unicorn has tanked some HH before when we got tanks that where not tanks but DPS wanting faster que time.
Depends on if you want to count the original version of the Headless Horseman fight pre-Cata.
Still took place in the SM Graveyard (before it was on fire), but the tuning was considerably tighter and it was very much possible to wipe. Also a lot less access to endgame gear in general and more newbie players, so such a bad run was not inconceivable.
In any case, such a bad run these days is DEFINITELY unusual.
Probably not helped by a lot of people queuing up as a healer while in DPS spec just to skip the line. Possibly the same for people queuing up as a tank in DPS spec as well, but as I only ran it as a tank this year (in tank spec, obviously), I didn’t see any examples of that.
Combined with an especially bad group, this is a recipe for disaster.
never wiped but had a close call a couple years ago as a low level healer and could not heal a high level tank for SHlT
the scaling was a little funny at the time
i would have trouble believing one wipe, but it’s possible. maybe a perfect storm of under geared alts, bad tank, and a dps posing as a healer. but three?
