It is bad in the context of mid players. Trash players wont notice it, pro players will stil enjoy the uncapped aoe, the people running 15-20s are going to feel it pretty hard chart wise.
If they maybe did a flamestrike nerf…then let it test, then decided flame patch also need it, itd make sense. As it stands that is a 4x nerf to our aoe (cascade, patch, strike, kindling), and a 2x nerf to single target (cascade, kindling). All in one swoop.
Blizzard is notorious for overdoing nerfs all at once then completely ignoring the spec. Which I think is the main fear.
Should of just added the current blizzard target cap to flamestrike and called it a day.

I feel you there, they did the same with boomie. At least fire is a dev favorite and there’s a chance they will remain near the top. Boomie is effectively dead if these notes go live.
I think most mages expected this. With an extra conduit slot, added conduit ilvls, and added secondaries…it just had to be nerfed. Combustion would be down to like 40 seconds lol. The nerfs are probably proactive but I guess we’ll find out.

only the infernal cascade thing really bothers me.
but who knows what else 9.1 brings , maybe it’s justified.
Infernal cascade makes sense tho, ilvl of conduits will scale. The other nerfs on top of it tho…lol.
Just hit the aspect we are strong in, make a choice. Either nerf how often we get combust…or nerf the amount of damage we do during combust then compensate on other crap. No need to smack us all around in one patch.

In a vacuum, it looks bad, but there’s going to be 3 new ranks of it. It just wasn’t going to go on indefinitely. And there’s a new conduit slot. Put your flamestrike or pyroblast one in there and you’re good to go.
Take away Ring of Frost from Fire.

These notes are just super weird. I have no idea what they are going for next patch.
Other than beeg chaos bolts. That’s pretty straight forward.
Yeah the experiment failed. Turn the page on this.

This right here. Everything may come out fine once we get these upgrades as we progress through the tier so they might be balancing that with these PTR changes in mind.

they kinda deserved nerfs though been meta since bfa corruptions thats a long time

and your class is absolutely insane as well. No one deserves nerfs just because theyve been good. Your backwards mentality is what led blizz to this crap development. Why nerf with such a heavy hand? Scale it back a bit, buff the outlier specs for classes and let people have fun.
You keep enjoying those 40k self heals in 1 sec tho.

Now buff frost mages! Did they ever get around to nerfing the op class for the last two expansions? The illidari freaks
Oh man, I love seeing people who doesn’t know what they’re talking about
But hey, the cycle of life continues, which is: Blizz doesn’t know how to make the spec scale well with gearing > People complains > Nerfs > Breaking > Scaling happens again and things are ok > People complains again > New xpac… and it all begins again.
Right now we’re on step 3 since it’s still early.
On the upside, I’ll stop seeing FOTM rerollers that kill me with cringe each time I see how bad they play fire.

These notes read like someone who has never stepped foot inside the game was directed to make changes… I mean blizzard… Really? My how the mighty have fallen!!
It is super funny how people claim fire mages are so faceroll…then play them and are absolutely horrible lol. Happened a lot in my guild.

oh you talking pvp i dont give a crap about that man i barely did any i was talking about pve content specifically m+, mage nerfs open up slots for other classes to be competitive they have to shake the meta a bit sometimes and it was time to chop fire mages off for a while, although they still have uncap aoe so it might not even affect them early to know
When they start noticing that a lot of the burst comes from good teamwork and timing your spells right, a lot of people see it… or get annoyed because “I thought this was an easy win!”.
I’ve seen mages that had made me want to punch a hole through a concrete wall.

No, they do not lol. Fire mages will STILL be taken for uncapped aoe, lust, immunity, remove curse, etc.
Outside of MDI and pro key pushers, mages werent any better than hunters/warlocks/ele shammy/shadow priest/unholy DK
