Veins lasted 30+ seconds and ToTM x Surge required some form of casting in the lead up (Evo for 4s, Surge hard cast, 2 missiles, notice the PoM at any point, if you miss all of this react with literally any cd as ToTM pops and you’re fine). Entirely incomparable to frost walking up, placing an orb, popping veins, and playing wack-a-mole.
Bust & ToTM are prime reasons the other specs get played far less, they’re both exceedingly easy to outplay due to the wide range of readily available CDs that line up with their CDs. The only time this changes is if the mage is qing something with a non-dispellable, routine stun. Frost can succeed without that, easily.
Who are the worse mage alts vs the mage mains?
What part of combust do you think is killing people? The spam pyros, or the meteor coming down from the heavens + ice wall cheese?
Ya, I agree that frost is worlds easier and better for the average player. However, OP specifically mentioned that arcane is good if played well.
My comment was that, if we’re acknowledging that arcane is viable and strong, just harder to play, that fire should be included in that same conversation.
Yes, I agree 100%. They’re undeniably harder to play and have relevant strengths in more niche scenarios.
Max and kalvish playing fire did “better” than pherix, dopamine, that canada guy, and ceralium. And kubzy and cvarks were highest playing arcane.
Meteor, ice wall, and the guaranteed setup between db, mass poly, and ring of frost that the other specs couldn’t guarantee into two dedicated kicks while also having access to a damage school that couldn’t be interrupted.
Again, I’m not making any argument that fire is easier than frost, I think frost was in general more well rounded and could absolutely be successful. However, most frost mages hit a wall vs feral+ele teams in that neither particularly cared at all vs slows, and reliably outtraded the frost mage so long as they pressed walls on veins. Those same teams lost to arcane+outlaw and fire/sub because the other mage specs could set up and win with burst damage on much more frequent goes than frost could put out.
