How do we possibly lose?
What do you think we needed, or at least told, the navy for?
To sit prettiely in the harbor?

I have compared the attack to Pearl Harbor⌠Sure it was a showy tactical win, but not only was it a massive strategic mistake, once you start scratching the surface you realize how lackluster it was. Best thing we could have done is sent a crack team of Alliance healers to make sure Rastakhan had a long life.
Thats a good comparison.
Really good actually.
Have i mentioned youâre my favorite velf poster?
This kind of thing gets said a lot. But, if you look a little deeper, you will find out that it just does not hold up. By the time of the raid, there is little chance that the Zandalari would not be allied to the Horde. Sure, Rastakhan was a against it at the start. But with his daughter being proven correct on all the threats and the Horde playing such a key part in keeping his kingdom together I just canât see him not formalizing the an alliance with the Horde.
Damaged districts, treasury raided, king dead. That is the kind of thing that really disrupts economy, production and general health of a city. And the bastion of the Zandalari power. That is something that will take time to restore. The city itself has been dramatically weakened.
Less than half by what we are told. That is a monumental loss of power.
And experienced sailors and officers to fill those ships? Even if they could crank out a bunch of new ships (hard do do that much with the mess the city is likely to be in) they could not crew them. Building a capable fleet is far more difficult than just building a bunch of ships.
One also has to consider the other ramifications, that of possible fronts of the war. With the Kulâtiran fleet the Alliance has unquestioned naval superiority over the Horde. And the ships to ferry troops where they want. This was what Sylvanas was afraid of. This was why she choose to hit Teldrassil when she did. She did not want the Alliance to have a chance to rebuild their fleet. This gives the Alliance the ability to strike where they want, when they want. And the Horde does not have the ships and crews to move troops to counter. The Horde now has to worry about defending Zandalar (which the Alliance proved they can hit hard), Silvermoon, and Orgrimmar without the ability to transport troops effectively.
Bottom line, this was a major win. And strategically speaking, sans a Deus Ex Machina, would be the blow that cemented the Alliance win.
Going to disagree here. Zandalari is in no way a sleeping giant. The US had more resources and military might than Japan, even without the Pacific fleet. In the case of the Zandalari, they do not. All they had as a real threat to the Alliance was the largest naval fleet. Removing that and damaging their only real seat of power is going to have a lot more impact than Pearl Harbor was.
you still using this argument for the fleet? all or nothing happened? thatâs stupid.
to be fair, the US naval fleet only had to deal with destroyed ships, Japan however didnât destroy the manufacturing areas or the submarine units.
Jaina tried to preserve her alliance with those who had literally just helped her defeat the burning legion and settle in Kalimdor.
Talanji allied with and opened her ports and gates to a genocidal war mongerer who had murdered innocent children mere months prior.
Completely different situations.
i think that if they changed the dialogue post raid it would be better.
instead of the idiotic lines of ânot attack while they are sadâ
why not just say that jaina is still recovering and that anduin talked to her about calia? with that, her dialogue would be cut, she would still be recovering and it makes more sense that she survived the murder hobos killers of titans, dragons and old gods.
but nah, blizzard still manages to screw up when it was so easy to do something that makes sense.
Or the Carriers.
Although that is an excellent point about the subs. People vastly underestimate or just donât know about how effective the US submarine fleet was in wreaking bloody havoc against japans merchant marine.
And the fact that they sank warships that already had their replacements designed and in the pipeline, within eyeshot of the undamaged drydocks/repair slips was also kinda a whoopsie.
At least Japan went ahead and followed up the attack with a series of assaults across the entire pacific, Alliance leadership wants to sit at home and let them have time to grieve, cause exploiting a weakness would be a horde thing. I never meant to equate Zandalar to the sheer military and industrial juggernaut that the US was able to very quickly become, but the metaphor is accesable. If I compared it to a botched/failed battle of Copenhagen no one would know what I was rambling on about this time.
There is stupidity and then there is criminal stupidity, and that falls into the latter.
Its cute how the Alliance has to head canon their own wins and consequences.
Meanwhile the Horde rolls in and obliterates everything in its path but yet somehow they are the underdog faction.
donât be upet. you got jaina to get her mom to love her again. thatâs a small victory in itself, isnât it? I mean sure, its not fighting a titan manufactured Old God, but its something.
Since we are touching on injury, I would like to voice a complaint.
They gave GULâDAN TOOO MUCH INJURY.
I mean for real, he was disintegrated, and Jaina doesnt even have a blemish. Must be alot of mage mains at blizz.
#classfavoritism #âlocksneedlorecharacterstoo
Seeing Jaina happy is worth any faction conflict win though.
That woman needs a break
What does an ironic Alliance win look like?
they kill a king, but somehow the horde still comes on top. whats ironic about this victory is that it completely ignored the purpose of attacking DazarâAlor, which was to weaken the hordes relationship with them, but instead it made the Zandalari rely more on the horde.
I know a few belves that disagree
Alliance victories in a nuttshell.
Kicking the ScourgeLite out of their seat of power but not only they dont care much about it but their ability to wage war and create blight isnt hindered at all.
If they replaced sylvanasâ throneroom spiel on anduin with an âay lmaoâ it would still be fitting.
soO took away the hordes right to be called a superpower. but whatever helps you sleep at night,
