Quarterly earnings are for the suits, not the players. Games can be cult favorites and still good, but not sell well. Games can sell well and be good. Games can sell well and be terrible.

Just like WoW’s quarterly earnings never mean they’ll turn things around, this doesn’t mean anything to how good or bad FFXIV is.

It only gives insight into the business side.

Good thing these kinds of corporations literally piss that amount of cash. Game isn’t going anywhere, I’d hate to see some of the bad quarters this game has had. And I say that as someone who easily likes WoW two or three times as much as 14.

Probably player wise, but that doesn’t mean $$$ wise. People were doing trials and WoW has a token. So despite Acti-Blizzard games losing MAUs across the board, they made profit. Because of cash shops and the token. It’s possible that FFXIV’s store isn’t as successful.

It’s a bottom line that matters on the business side of things. It does not indicate if the game is fun to play. Because those things are subjective and a lot of gatcha games make loads of money.

Blizzard is d*mn lucky he didn’t start playing FFXIV right after he finished Kara. That would have hit Blizzard in Q2. Imagine what the dropoff in MAUs would have been. :rofl:
