Faction imbalance is a player problem, not a design problem. Realistically only the very VERY top end players get any notable mileage out of the tiny power difference between things like racials, but then all the semi-competitive people play follow the leader and run after them, and that trickles all the way down. “Oh, well if they’re doing it, it must be right!” even if it’s truly negligible.
At this point the top end has stopped swapping as much though, because the player pool has skewed so far toward Horde that the benefit of a stronger recruitment pool outweighs the minor gains from faction swapping for racials or whatever.

vanilla wow has much more rng lootbox style things. Like chests on the open world. they can contain either totally worthless items or bis epics. Clearly this means you should stop playing vanilla.
You realize randomly generated chests in open world that could just have grey junk items, or an epic item, is loot chest too right?
