So there’s fresh news that FFXIV is coming to XBOX within a year, next spring to be more exact. Can Blizzard beat Square Enix to XBOX with WoW? Potential boat load of players could be lost.

They’ve been working on that deal for a few years, saying at least once or twice that the ball was in Microsoft’s court, and that SE was quite interested in bringing FF XIV to another platform. This ABK and Microsoft merger hasn’t been going on quite as long. I wouldn’t rule WoW coming to Xbox out just yet.

I still can’t fathom why anyone wants, or cares about WoW on consols. It’ll be an absolutely terrible way to play the game.

It just depends on how user friendly they make the ui interaction with controller. Right now it’s terrible with a controller. If they can make that good for controller then it wouldn’t be that bad.
Also, I’m sure they’re not doing it for current players, but for the potential new players that don’t have PCs and such.
The number of keybinds that WoW requires for nearly every class simply isn’t going to translate well to controllers. Let alone things like dropping ground effects, selecting targets for raid healing, targetting in general… The game just isn’t built with consols in mind in the slightest. It would have to be redesigned into a different game for it to work.

They could probably make it work some how. I imagine it would be worth it if they could make it for XBOX and PS at the same time.
Most likely not, because Wow’s engine wasn’t built for console.

This is just flat out not true.
People play WoW with controllers right now.
It’s not worth the argument to try and convince folks though, I’m just counting down to the Xbox Beta for FFXIV now.

oh wise monk, please explain to us why wow cant be played on a controller, and how the 1.2mil players that have downloaded the addon don’t exist.

My dude, if you want to convince us that controllers work just fine with WoW literally all you need to do is show us that it’s reasonably possible in the current design of the game. Not immediately poison the well by making generic “elitism” digs.
I don’t think that’s even a might. I don’t think WoW will be on Xbox soon. Maybe eventually but even last November Blizz was saying it’s not in the plans at all.
