FFXIV beat WoW to MOON

Sam Combos aren’t that difficult if you’re not looking to be an epic player, honestly.

You just have the 3 buffs you keep up and then the one DoT to apply, and then the Big Hit Move.

This builds up some resource for The Ohter Big Hit Move.

And that’s it that’s Sam.

is no different than lets say DK , with runes and runic power and the rotation is easy once u get the hang of it

Who cares about a lame moon, we have been to not only other planets but other time lines!

Eh, positionals can be a PoS sometimes. Especially when you are in the position and it doesnt work.

well thats true but the positionals in FFXIV are not that bad

ffxiv changed the circles on target to make it easier

This is why I just play tank or MCH. I want to turn my brain off and do content.

Positionals only really matter to classes like Dragoon or Monk.

For everyone else they’re mostly suggestive. They’re super suggestive to Samurai.

Azeroth has two moons, the Blue Child and the White Lady. Apparently one was absent for a few years, but I’m not sure which. It’s disturbing to go to Highmountain and look at the glorious sky display, then see the Blue Child there on the horizon with stars shining through it like it’s behind the galaxy.

Draenor has either very large moons, or companion planets. None are Azeroth.

Even then, Dragoon needs some sort of rework to it. Doing everything right on that class will still net you lower DPS than any other melee DPS.

nin suiton but yeah 90% of the time on rear , and side step for flank attacks.

i prefer ranged / caster on ffxiv tho , more easy to deal with the amount of mechanics ffxiv throw at u lol

I don’t sweat my DPS because I dont’ do Savages

So jumpy pointy stick go brrrrr

Hard for WoW players to do rotations that aren’t mostly builder/spender lol:

I dont have to group to do them; let alone, I really dont want to tank in them either.

Just not worth the time and effort for me. I have enough fun with the base stuff.

Classes are more complex than WoW. Personally, I think it’s one of the game’s best aspects. Class Design is more interesting there. There’s room for simple gameplay, but WoW ONLY has simple gameplay. I have trouble really finding one class/spec that clicks because ALL of them, even the ones I think have neat ideas, are just a bit too simplistic IMO.

It’s also worth noting that while FFXIV rotations tend to be more complex, they also tend to be more static. The “complexity” goes down for many classes once you get a handle on it. It can just be overwhelming up front.

WoW’s pacing is better though. FFXIV’s GCD is noticeable despite oGCDs.

To be fair, I can’t grok a lot of “rotations” in WoW anymore since they went “Everyone gets a priority rotation!” some expacs ago.

Had to install Hekit once and jumped my DPS and now I can’t play without it. It sucks.

But FF feels intuitive enough to not need these things

Subjective, though I agree that they need to do something more for players trying to get through the slog from 1-50 other than just add skip potions.

The story gets so much better from 51+ that it’s night and day. Also, the 2.5 sec GCD makes everything feel painfully slow at lower levels but most classes have so many oGCD abilities at cap that it usually makes up for it.

If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s fine, but from someone who was there for WoW in beta and there for XIV in beta (1.0, lawl), the games stand on fairly even footing today and still regularly take ideas from each other.

But WoW is missing the “give a damn” factor in a big, BIG way. WoW’s devs have been listening to player feedback and very slowly making QoL changes to the game which we see reflected in hotfixes, but the vast majority of these issues are the same ones the SL beta testers were screaming bloody murder about and Bliz shipped it as is anyway.

For someone who enjoys both games for what they are, I wish WoW’s devs went the extra mile like they used to and like XIV’s still do.

And hell, could they please steal the commendation system next? SOMETHING to encourage players to not be giant douches to each other in LFG/LFR would be better than the NOTHING we have now…

Saying something is going to the moon right now is basically dooming whoever participates it to fall into crippling debt because they re-financed their mortgage on their house betting on something to be more successful than it is.

That being said, how many story skips and level boosts do I need to buy to actually get to see this content if I chose to play?

Not really, and not just because Y’shtola isn’t dead.

I don’t think there is any point playing the game if you don’t play the story.

FFXIV is rpg and story first. If you care only about doing m+, raids fast you can, you don’t care about rpg aspects, you don’t read quests… Then games like wow, lol, cod are for you.

That’s ok.

FFXIV is for people who love long journey’s.
