Having the same issue, done absolutely everything besides a full system install. on my lock aswell. Posting this incase it’s some bug with warlocks because I keep seeing class specific bugs on the forum.
Hey there Ferumbras,
That does sound odd that your warlock is having the system crash. I suspect this is outside what we can directly assist with, but I wanted to cover what we can since you also asked if a bug may be involved. I found none verified regarding warlocks and freezes. At this point, I want to ask a couple questions to better understand what’s going on.
- Is there any pattern to this, such as happens only in dungeons, with a specific spell or pet, or after a certain amount of time?
- Is the entire system freezing or, can you use task manager to close the game? Keep in mind if the system is freezing, it indicates a system issue and a local PC tech is likely needed.
- There may be errors showing that can help narrow this down. Could you both provide a DxDiag file? Copy and paste the text file created and paste it between two ~~~ like so:
DxDiag Here
If you have issues pasting here, use Pastebin and post the end of the link. (ie. 123456 for pastebin.com/123456)
-no real pattern, seems to happen most on warlock but for sure has happened on other classes.
-both screens go black, game freezes most of the time for 15 secs or so, its only in wow no other games.
paste bin - d5q0UuPJ
There are timeouts for the GPU in the report. Sometimes a clean install of the drivers helps, other times it can be related to overheating.
done a clean install with ddu and no overheating from what hwmonitor shows
its random, seems to happen alot less now that im not in nagrand. and seems to always happen on my warlock
What about throttle points? You could look up the throttle temperatures for your CPU and GPU. Sometimes the transition to reduced performance to prevent high temps isn’t smooth, depending on the hardware.
Hey there Ferumbras,
Those LiveKernelEvents in the Windows Error Report does concern me and make me think this is something more serious with the system since they shouldn’t be happening especially after using DDU to reinstall drivers. With it being more common in certain areas, I also wonder if it has something to do with the graphical effects in that area.
A workaround to try would be DirectX11 or DirectX11 Legacy. Can you test both of those to see if that helps?
hi, i’ve tried all the directx versions, no luck
this thread is interesting and very similar
Ferumbras,
Since there wasn’t any luck with the previous steps, can we get some copies of info from your HWMonitor test so we can see if there’s anything interesting the hardware is doing.
Just play the game with HWMonitor running until you see a couple of these. Once you catch the problem red handed, check the “max” column of your test for CPU/GPU overheating. If those are getting too hot, clean the PC and take it to a PC tech if that doesn’t fix the overheating - that’d probably mean some of the heat hardware needs maintenance or replacement.
If you don’t see anything, let’s snag some screenshots:
- Maximize the HWMonitor window and expand all the nodes on the left
- Scroll all the way up
- Take a screenshot with the Print Screen (prtscn) key
- Open up the program Paint and press ctrl+v to paste in the test
- Crop the screen if you want to only show the test, then save it as Test1.JPG
- Scroll all the way down, then repeat steps 3-5. Save this as Test2.JPG
- Upload them somewhere like imgur and link us to the results. We’ll use those to look for more options.
If you have link errors, copy the code below, then copy/paste your link between two ` marks, it’ll break the link and let you post it. You can just copy paste everything in the box below and replace “Link goes here” with your link.
