Feral druids are rubbish

Feral Druids need help. Trust me. Since launch of BFA I’ve ONLY played the other 3 specializations. They’re really good. Especially when compared to the kitty. Bad kitty!

It’s a very unforgiving spec. Ran with it seriously for the start of Battle for Dazar’alor, but had to swap back to rogue few months later. Having one mess up could ruin your spot on the dps meters. I wanted to challenge myself by trying to get a bad spec to work along side better specs, but I just couldn’t do it without feeling awful as my guildie flew by in dmg with worse gear.

I still play it occasionally for fun, but I don’t see myself taking the spec seriously again until it gets some well needed buffs.

For some reason they seem ever so slightly better since patch. Could be because I screwed with my talents and picked better ones, lol. I love feral but they are trash. I think my feral is better then my Affliction Lock though. Aff Lock is just so blah right now for me. Classes need more flavor A.S.A.P.!

I like feral. I like the healing buffs I get and the cat attacks are fast. There’s a lot of bleed DoT in the spells too.

I have fun pretending I’m boomkin with Balance Affinity so I can be in moonkin form before the key starts. Seriously. Or when I pug in raids, they ALWAYS think I’m boomkin so I just go with it. Lmao

12 ferals VS 700 Balance druids have downed mythic Jaina. That says something.

They are still fun to play though

I open on people in wPvP and a lot of times they wont even dismount. They just keep running forward thinking they’re gonna get away I guess. Some even spam emotes as if they’re 100% sure that there’s no way for me to stop them from running forward.
I had a warrior spamming /no and /laugh at me from atop his mount. He finally dismounted after 2 instant roots and a 55k bite crit + gladiators maledict crit for 22k. But it was far too late plus he then beat into thorns.
So I’m just saying if you think you can just stay mounted and ride off into the sunset you’re very wrong vs feral. Not to mention movement speed potions and gunshoes. Feral might not be all that great in PvE aspects, but are 1v1 game is one of the best still imo.
I had a hunter just leave against me in AV 1v1ing in the field of strife. I haven’t made someone leave like that that since playing a death knight in season 5. I felt bad for him. I took all of his happy points lol.

They got rid of it because it was to much like elemental overload and blizzard didn’t like that

I play my feral druid like a Rogue Kitty – skulk around the shadows, then pounce. I do hate that I don’t have a vanish to get outta trouble, but like the play style.

And travel / flight / aquatic forms are sooo nice. Instant cast ground or flying “mounts”? Awesome.

And now I’ll end the reply with a Rogue Kitty.

Feral issues go way beyond azerite itemization. Their main problem is a lack of sufficient energy regeneration. They simply run out of resources during the fight and have to sit there doing nothing but auto attacks until it rebuilds.

Dunno what everyone’s complaints with feral are, I’d be curious what you primarily play - raids, M+, pvp, etc. I leveled 6 classes through bfa now & my tauren feral druid was one of the easiest, I was blowing through mobs, even the group quests I was soloing with relative ease. I’ve always found feral druid to be enjoyable & quite robust (hard to kill). I primarily play solo stuff & dungeons, don’t raid or pvp to often.

Oh. I know, trust me. I’ve been playing since the john FN madden days.

I love playing feral, and I had to switch to boomie for leveling my Zandalari druid because feral feels like absolute garbage to play at lower levels. The lack of haste just kills me.

I miss the old days when Blizzard had a different mentality. Everyone knew that Feral and Sub rogue were the most difficult specs to play to its full potential. You were rewarded by having the theoretical highest single target DPS. These were my two main specs to play from Wrath (Cata for Sub) until Legion prepatch. It just hasn’t felt the same since. And definitely hasn’t felt rewarding to play.

Since this thread is about leveling, I suggest everyone use the Tiger’s Fury reset talent at level 20. Its a MUST HAVE for leveling. All you have to do is rake, rip, tab, reset. Easy questing.

Agree 100%. I’ve played feral since Cata, and I love the spec, and I don’t mind energy pooling and playing with DOTs, but I feel like I sit around more, waiting and waiting and waiting for energy while other classes are spamming away.

I think the artifact weapon gave feral some good things that were not added back in for BFA. I didn’t play feral much at a higher level (raiding) in Legion though, like I did in MOP and WOD, so I can’t speak too much about how they were last expac. I just know it felt more fluid to play.

I do, and it still feels crappy. I will try it again once I get to around level 60, but without Thrash, it’s harder because you need to Rake everything to get a constant flow, and that requires energy. Idk if I have thrash yet, tbh, but I’m still waiting.

I have 2 (one alliance and one horde) and yea feral needs help. They go from super OP with their dots to a frightened little kitty.

I stay energy starved and just auto attack.

Ugh, I didn’t mean to delete my post, just edit.

Anyway, it still feel bad at lower levels. I will try again around level 60, but you use so much energy on DOTs and then just wait for stuff to die. Energy regen is horrid.

Edit: Clarity

Feral is a relic from another time.

It used to be very strong on single target and very weak on AOE. There was a time when the mentality was that only Boss damage mattered. What you did on trash didn’t.

But as raid mechanics changed, there was a lot more trash and adds on bosses. AOE became much more important. And with M+, it matters even more.

They have tinkered with the spec to try and give it more AOE, but it ends up being mediocre on everything. And since rogues can do everything we do better and they provide more utility, there’s really no reason to bring a feral druid.

I enjoy it in the open world because I can stealth by most everything to get to my target. Mobility is really good. But I wouldn’t want to gimp any groups by running dungeons or raids. It’s a really weak spec.
