Feral Druid Tuning Thoughts

Ferals seem lacking in arenas lately but seem fairly strong in BGs so I got to thinking.. what is the reason?

Yes, you get rewarded for pre-bear forming the enemy’s bursts.
Yes, bleed damage does good pad and will be buffed come Aug 25th.

But… where is the burst? Outsider looking in, but it doesn’t seem like there is much reward for Ferocious Bite other than maintaining snapshot of your bleeds from Tiger’s Fury. Apex Predator’s Craving 4% maybe could also be buffed to 5-6% in PvP combat? I don’t want ferals to be OP I have to face them in arenas, but I’d also like to be afraid when I see incarn.

Feral mains… any thoughts?

The buffs are nice and needed. I’m often bottom damage done, so this will bring us more in line

incarn still needs to be respected. If you ignore it and face tank it, I’ll kill you with it, but feral’s strength is a go every 30 seconds. Tiger’s Fury, full dots, and then maim/clone heals while your bleeds hit hard.

The other strength is that feral isn’t really a class you can train all game, as you’ll be chasing a ghost that kites you around pillars, so we’re more a hit and run type play, which with buffer bleeds and mini go every 30 seconds makes a strong spec. But it’s not a W key presser and that’s not for everyone.

I don’t see the point in just following it up with something that was previously mentioned? I still will get hit for like 60k ferocious bites in incarn.

99% of ferals aren’t playing the FB build, but the bleed one with wild stalker. You can get some chunky bites from DoTC build, but that doesn’t really support our style of play how we’re effective in bleeding them hard and then cc’ing and peeling while they tick away.

Ferals low key will be really good in the right hands with these bleed buffs and 4 piece tier coming.

Also, when you’re checking damage done to you, those FBs show up as themselves but they proc Unseen Swipe and Slash, and flare up dots, so a feral in incarn hitting you with FB every other global is putting a lot of other damage into you outside of the FB itself.

It just seems like dampening is your biggest win condition. On none of my characters have I felt the need to use a defensive to trade vs incarn (ret/holy pal, boomie, warlock, hunt, rogue). I feel the need to defensive vs unh dk, fire mage, rogues, etc but for ferals incarn it’s not forced unless it’s high dampening. If you’re totally okay with that and that’s the ideal playstyle for feral, I’ll just say disregard the post. Just seems weak even facing R1s so I figured I’d throw something in the hat.

Hopefully the buffs do help as much as you say they will.

60k FB is a joke. idk why you are defending it when all other classes/spec have 120K + bursts. I mean even DK have more dots and higher burst and DK arent that great. Please stop defending crappy buffs. Feral needs higher burst potential.

feral didnt even played the FB Build in Tww and still Bite krits were huge, especially with the season 2 4 set.

First of all yes, in the hands of multi r1 or high high glads

second one, even many high glad/r1 ferals have no fun with the current designe, cuz you have to do so much work, for little gain, while it wasnt the case in the past.

dont listen to this guy he have 0 arena experience, he never played 1 shuffle as feral in his life, paid actor i think

in tww yes, not so much in midnight, because of the lose of the incarn bleed what was our main win condition in previous xpac, we didnt got anything else in returne for it. huge win factor is more likely a good maim/feral frenzy while trying to cc the heal to create a snowball effect (sht gameplay)

this is 5k dmg

Easy Solution to Fix it

Solution: 1
create a New PvP talent, what increases the Proc chance for Apex + bite dmg increase when you use it with Apex proc

or Solution: 2
Draught of Deep Focus

When Moonfire, Rake, Rip, or Rejuvenation are active on a single target, their effects are increased 40%.

Just throwing spaghetti to see if the idea sticks, but what if instead of making FB feel mid when you’re using it below 50 energy, instead let FB have the flat damage -to-combo results,

And then change the 50 energy bite with a different buff like: Using FB at 50 energy adds xx seconds to Rip and rake bleeds. That way the sunk cost of spending 2-3 GCDs to drop a 5 combo rip/primal wrath on mobs that are already halfway dead, only to get 3 ticks of dmg will be less frustrating if your bites at least are at least consistent when under at 25 energy.

Plus it can put a bit more power into bleeds on bigger enemies. But I know- I know… Delicate balance and all. Can’t make the design too head empty, can’t make it too challenging, etc…

Maybe make Chomp do some bleed refreshers and see how that works. (I don’t know what to do with Chomp tbh. Still put off by its anti energy design.

Something different, I’d like to see chomp separated from LI and maybe some 2 point node being made 1 point to be able to get chomp as well as LI.

The idea behind chomp was interesting but the usage threshold needs to be more lenient so it comes easier at the end of using up energy instead of forcing depletion.

Let Dotc have some bigger chomp and bite buffs meanwhile.

My thoughts are that it’s still awful, both it and boomy have useless damage profiles.

Ya, feral damage is awful. I love how Incarn/Zerk is 2 min CD, and does a fraction of my 1 min combust.

damn feral got buffed an it still feels meh lol

also they made the talent pathing smh worse compared to tww and nerfed apex 2x times only because of m+

dunno why it isnt possible to bring feral back to legion/bfa/sl level just give us a pvp talent to buff our singletarget dmg
