Yea, Iâve been saying this in a few threads. I thought bear-weaving was a unique and interesting gameplay style. It wasnât required, but if you mastered it, you got a bit of a damage bonus. It was also very class-fantasy appropriate.
Since we live in a world where buffs are happening in WotLK, Iâm all for feral buffs, but the elimination of the bear-weaving playstyle was the wrong move. Flower-weaving definitely had to go, but not bear-weaving.
The alternative I threw out is that instead of making FFF always proc OoC, they should have put it on Maul with a 6s internal CD.
Also, Iâm sorry to see this overall nerf happen. It didnât seem necessary. Ferals werenât top of the dps rankings so beyond that, why does it matter?

This would be one of those times it would be really great to hear from Blizzard what was so dangerous about Feral Combat Cat having 5% more DPS and the actual concerns that merited:
- Changing Faerie Fire (Feral) at all
- Buffing Feral Combat by ideally â10%â
- Moving away from degenerate strategies like Bearweaving and Flowerweaving
- Changing minds in the span of a week
- Deciding somehow Feral Combat is âtoo powerfulâ
- Opting to âfixâ it with a talent change
- Nerfing bears because ???
- âFixingâ bears because their threat is even worse now
- Leaving cat as a more consistent but still meh DPS
I wouldâve just been happier with never being buffed and then turned around and nerfed. Sorry folks, I donât see where Feral Combat Cat was tearing things up. Maybe explaining the breakdown from Blizzard themselves would change that but thatâs probably hoping for too much.
Also for the record, I hate Bearweaving and Flowerweaving, and never liked Poweshifting. I main cat to play cat.
Itâs not too late to rollback the Naturalist change and isolate the Faerie Fire (Feral) buff into a glyph like it should have been in the first place.
Bruh you do know this isnât new content. I didnât magically know fire mages would be bis late expansion⌠I looked at data thatâs been there for 15 years. Go look bud, read, learn
Okay let me make sure I understand the situation:
1- Blizzard decide feral needs a buff so they buff Omen of Clarity
2- Blizzard realizes the buff was too much so they nerf Naturalist
3- Blizzard revert the nerf on Naturalist
If thatâs right then what happened to the realization on the fact that Omen of Clarity buff was too OP?? What happened to this change was "meant to de-emphasize the âBearweavingâ and âincreasing or decreasing damage wasnât really the main goalâ ?? why not reverting the whole thing ?
Itâs not right and they realized the original buff was not too OP.

" We are making a follow-up change on the Omen of Clarity adjustment we made last week. That change ended up increasing Feral Cat damage a little more than we wanted, so we are making an additional change to lower this output by about 4.5%. This change will also reduce Bear damage slightly, so their threat multiplier has been increased very slightly to compensate. Lastly, we found the change that prevented Gift of the Wild from trigging Omen of Clarity was unnecessary, and will have a negative impact on Balance Druids, so that change is being reverted.

I mean here is the actual blizzard post again, which trumps whatever is on wowhead.
The OoC buff was definitely overshooting the goal which was fairly obvious from the get go.
Just handing ferals a bunch of free energy is a scaling nightmare. But they went with that one and now theyâve painted themselves into a corner cause they canât nerf that specific scenario without affecting every other druid activity.
/shrug blizzard said theyâll be monitoring the scaling into ToC and ICC so if it becomes a problem at that point, which it may or may not, I expect something to be done.
