Been playing Classic TBC. But play retail mainly miss having mangle. Should Blizz think of adding it or nah ?
Imo mangle is just another buff to manage and would require even more time to properly set up damage, especially in an AoE setting. It would need to be changed mechanically to support today’s playstyle of cleaving and AoE.
I do enjoy the difficulty of the Feral spec, but at some point I feel we need to draw the line for how much buffs/debuffs we need to maintain. In BC, there are a lot less mechanics to pay attention to so it’s easier to upkeep your damage.
I’d still use the ability in the off chance it would be added, but (just speaking my mind here) I’m not convinced it would be a good idea to re-add it into retail in it’s current form.
BT and TF snapshots, what other buffs are we maintaining?
I think the spec could use something else to get us away from owl weaving imo.
Mangle isn’t it though, because Mangle cost energy and we owlweave during energy downtime.
They could give us the Legion bonus to haste from items.
Or they could give us an energy free filler that was minimal, but was aoe and more dps than shifting.
On the other hand, I suspect Bliz wants us to owlweave because it helps justify affinities.
Yeah owl weaving is dumb. They need to address that crap. There needs to be a castable ability that costs no energy and usable in cat form.
Before I say anything, I utterly hate the affinity and movement rows.
Outside of changing forms, owlweaving is what you just asked for. If you just have a spammable ability, then energy has no real meaning. To me it already feels that way and playing TBC has reinforced that sensation.
When I use shred on retail, there is only a small amount of damage and no “oomph” feel to it. It is essentially spammable all ready.
When I use shred in TBC, the sound and large damage numbers make it feel like you just did something. Seeing a quarter of an enemy’s life bad drop off it quite the feeling.
Now, I will not deny the abuse of powershifting. This gets much better in Wrath, but, even there, the hitting power of your attacks is felt.
And that is where feral does not feel like feral anymore. Proper energy management to get maximum effect. What I am about to say here comes from playing feral for as long as I have, energy management went out the window in MoP. It came back somewhat for Legion, but that, literally night before, change to ferals also screwed up item and legendary balance and made no sense. You could get that affect back, through talents, and I saw no complaints during the beta, me included.
Do I like anything about the current feral, no. Blizzard seems to have no idea what they want to do with feral and keep changing it in weird ways. It has also been noted in the past that feral is one of the more “borrowed power” dependent specs in the game.
And just for final closure on my stance, my favorite version of feral was in WotLK. Where you used energy sparingly to get the maximum effect. Planning your downtime, due to energy, was what made you either decent dps or excellent dps.
Mostly what you said for the bleeds (and savage roar/moonfire if you’re specced into those for whatever reason).
Agree. Cant think of anything reasonable off the top of my head though.
