Feral Deeps

Hey gang

Long question summarised in one phrase: How bad is Feral at 1-15 M+ keys and have you found a way to make it work ?

I started 9.2 with the intention of playing Balance. It’s ok but kind of repetitive and really not fun for solo play. I then realised I’m really more of a melee type of guy, so rerolled to WW Monk.
But then it tickled my mind, what about Feral!?

So I’ve been playing Feral for fun with dailies and such and I find it really fun. But the AoE does seem to be an issue and I really end up spending all of my time in M+. Have you found a way to make Feral work in M+? I was thinking about crafting that legendary for free Bites from Rip damage.

Thoughts?

Feral is fine in keys this season. Unfortunately a lot of our AoE damage is gated behind acquiring:

  • 4p
  • Frenzyband
  • Cache of Acquired Treasures

Of those, only Frenzyband is easy to get.

You can do just fine in 15s without those, but it won’t feel super great.

Because I don’t follow the theorycrafters, can you explain this one? Like Inscrutable, there’s too much going on for my brain to figure out why this trinket is important…

I do just fine as feral in keys. A good feral will outshine a lot of people who plateau at 15s. It’s when you start getting to the higher keys and start playing with the better players that you’ll notice a huge dropoff.

We have naturally high crit % (due to the stats we like), so when you have a lot of targets (i.e. in keys) the bleed proc will occur very often (like half the targets per global) which is a lot of damage.

Frenzy band performs better than Apex lego in keys?

Or frenzy band for tyran weeks and Apex for fort weeks?

Depends on a lot of factors really. I’ve been having a lot more fun and success with Frenzyband, but that’s just me.

It’s also worth paying attention to what the top ferals are using, just as like a sanity check on whatever you’ve been told (no matter by whom). Onyaka is using Frenzyband in keys, and I figure she’s probably on to something.

1-15 it’s fine, as long as you aren’t trying to pug.

Take apex without the 4p, frenzy with 4p.

A lot of this also comes from many of those Ferals having tier sets as well as the double leggo

… I said that in like my first post in this thread?

My comment was in reference to “checking what the top Ferals are doing”.

If you don’t have the tier sets plus double legendaries, then copying the top Ferals isn’t going to work out very well.

Just because Onyaka is running Frenzyband doesn’t mean you should go and get it. Frenzyband without tier set is poo. Which is why it was never used before hand.

All I was getting at

Can confirm 4pc and frenzy helps aoe. Its bonkers. 3 pack in a 17 dos i peaked at 60k. i was shocked. and with 2pc (and frenzyband) bringing zerk to a 2 min cd, we’ve got huge aoe every 2min or so. I really hope to see more ferals in keys now.
Granted its just borrowed power and not an actual spec fix but hey, ill take what we can get

Good to hear something of the sort! I’m wondering how well Apex + 4 piece + Unity works out. I really enjoy the Apex style of play.

That’s viable keys up to +15s and if you’re skilled maybe a bit higher but frenzy is better, I switch between them because like you I also really like the apex play style.

Apex may pull ahead for right now too without tier. Which is my only saving grace.

When you get your 4pc you’ll appreciate the frenzy playstyle when you want your berserk off cd every pull :stuck_out_tongue:

Replace scent of blood with this, imo.

My concern with Scent of Blood is that all those efficient Swipes don’t translate to effective finishers. That disappears if Primal Wrath were made baseline though, and suddenly Scent becomes a solid pick.

At that point, Wild Fleshrending could become a great competing pick, and would open an option for single target other than BrS…

Just thinking of how to open more versatility for each type of content across the row.
