Funny you should mention this, as I has made comments on this very subject:
The level of toxicity within the Druid forums directly corresponding to the developers intent to redesign Bloodtalons. I’m sure you’ve noticed the very recent spike in disagreements regarding the subject.
On a regular day on the forums, we may stumble on the odd knob who attempts to flex their Epeens. That’s just a regular day, but bringing up this redesign, and they come out of the woodwork in droves.
This happened before, during BFA’s testing, and during release after Seph had stated Bloodtalons was being considered for a redesign.
In short (not so much):
It’s fine to have an opinion on a talent that has made such an impact as Bloodtalons. I do respect Serrow’s take on the subject as it’s in respect that others do have varying opinions of the matter, and hasn’t talked down to others in a way that is prevalent in the Dreamgrove, without recognising the playstyle is deeply subjective to the point of polarising, while also somehow conceiving that the mechanics are in any way up for dispute in the viewpoint for difficulty or engagement, on which holds a massive amount of hyperbole, which is not useful in regards to improving the talent, now that it is being re-invented.
Just because a player may not enjoy the playstyle of a frequent maintenance buff that is on the GCD (because of how it is implemented), they are not in any way considered to be “lesser”, alts, or someone who doesn’t play the spec in a substantial capacity.
Bloodtalons disrupts the flow of gameplay to a degree that large amount of other frequent maintenance buffs have removed this obstacle for this very reason.
Consider how Tiger’s Fury would feel on the GCD, and you have your answer.
Again, this isn’t just my opinion, and you’re absolutely free to disagree. That sure makes a difference considering other viewpoints on the subject. Understanding another player’s perspective is vital in approaching this concept, as even though you may feel you’re right, it does not discount another player’s experience with the very same mechanics.
It’s not that Bloodtalons is difficult, or that people should learn to play, but it’s activation is disruptive to the flow of the gameplay. Maybe even worse than if Tiger’s Fury were on the GCD.
Issue being, even if we’d only limited our PS procced Regrowth to be off the GCD, we’d set a precedent of other, dps increasing procs to follow suit, even without the necessary design behind it being a frequent maintenance buff.
And while I would very much like Bloodtalon’s playstyle to be a smooth experience, the game would suffer from that precedent.
There was official developer communication with the application of Bloodtalons through a macro to mindless casting Regrowth on yourself.
So is of little surprise that we have an attempt on a new design, and we as educated players, should give as clear and accurate feedback on the developer’s efforts, to make the playstyle as enjoyable as possible, instead of holding onto past mechanics that have been intentionally dropped.
