It’s why many women chose not to do voice in online games. As soon as a female voice comes across the comms everything changes. I’ve been gaming for a long time and can tell you it’s a persistent problem. It’d be great if it wasn’t like that but here we are.
I know some that really want to do games with pugs will resort to voice modifiers to sound male. imo you should always be protecting yourself: don’t share any public information, even name/state/city, tell everyone your male like ‘bro i’m a dude, leave me alone’.

I know many as well, I’m kind of surprised how anyone could think this made up. Go watch a “gamer girl” on twitch or even youtube videos showcasing the misogyny and inappropriate behavior some are subjected to.

Honestly, I have been in guilds where just me existing was reason enough for these creeps. I don’t flirt,I suck at it. I wouldn’t even know how to flirt but I do try to be nice to people. You cant be friendly at all to some of these guys, its very odd. Apparently me asking someone how their day is going means open season on creeping on me.

Boys will be boys. I’m not saying it’s good excuse. And acting like this should definitely be looked down upon and scrutinized. But it is a fact. It is called instincts. Don’t blame us. Blame ‘evolution’. We are hardwired to procreate and protect and to NOT understand the female gender. I’m sure you can see how that leads to poor judgement. There are plenty of good guys out there who mess up in bad ways. The difference being that a decent fellow will realize when he has crossed the line and attempt to atone for his mistakes.

I say every time a female finds out I’m a man they always get weird and want to act helpless to get carried, get benefits, or find someone to cry on a shoulder.

Nah, this hasn’t been my experience at all. Good thing is you can /gquit, leave discord server and /ignore. Can’t do that in real life unfortunately.
