That’s not true. It was instant. I played a hunter for the first 6-12 month after release, and when you feigned death you instantly dropped combat and could set a trap.
I don’t frequent the forums, but if I’d have known this I would have rolled another class. I don’t have traps yet, but this is broken enough for me to reroll right now.
Are you using a macro or just standard button pushing consecutively. I sure hope this is user error.
The trolls in this thread pushing false information are annoying. Most likely people playing shadow priests who just dislike Hunters in PVP.
There are a lot of things wrong with hunters right now as it relates to vanilla (claw going before growl with pets is annoying and needs to be fixed).
Not fixing this (FD/IT) does hurt hunters in PVP.
Blizzard needs to address this and FIX it.
Hi Hunters. Everything is fine.
Sincerely,
Rogues.
you could do it without macros but it wasnt guaranteed to work every time. it was about latency and batching. good players could watch out for it and hit you between fd and trap too
maybe my latency was worse than yours. it was in the 100-200 range back then, which is more than enough to mess up this combo
You could scatter into a trap to avoid being hit while feigning but the problem with that is those two abilities share dr’s for some reason and it was already said that it is “intended”, we’re kind of out of options in pvp at this point. It’s really unfortunate i have to consider re rolling if i don’t want to be a complete joke in world pvp but blizzards negligence and the communities hate against the “huntards” means this issue might be flying under the radar for a long time.
If anybody that claims this is wrong could please provide evidence it would be amazing. I’ve spoken with many different Hunters with the same exact problem.
Yeah. I’d love to see evidence to the contrary. I plan to do a lot of battlegrounds, and not being able to FD-trap is a huge loss of utility (mass or individual cc).
Yeah the autocast priorities are way off, which is annoying, but this FD thing is critical - it needs to be fixed ASAP.
All of this talk and yet none of you have even clarified if you’re doing it right or still being huntards. If you are just feign deathing while your pet is still going ham YOU WILL NOT DROP COMBAT. You need to be recalling your pet before you hit that FD, then combat should drop just fine, but if your pet is actively attacking people it won’t. I get the feeling this is just a bunch of scrub hunters that don’t know what they’re doing complaining because they don’t know how it worked or should work.
Im half expecting Blizz to say “working as intended hurrr”
Please Fix
yeah I have a macro for it… It works but sometimes it just feels really delayed compared to how it used too. If you’re fighting someone who is quick to retarget you after a FD they might hit you before you’re able to get the trap off. It’s not practically instant like it used to be in vanilla.
Technically it was even possible for someone to retarget and put you back into combat even in vanilla, but the window for that is much larger now. It was maybe like a 50ms window in vanilla, now sometimes it takes a full second to drop combat.
I highly doubt anyone in this thread has failed to account for that. Can confirm FD is buggy even if you don’t have a pet out (let alone pet on passive.)
Edit: it’s nice that you have so much faith in the classic team though. To be fair, they did say they struggled with hunters/pets and might never get them to work they did in vanilla, so it’s not like we weren’t warned.
its rly not you just had it ez for ever in retail
Can’t say I know how it works in retail, but I do know that when I used to play WoW you could trap immediately after FD.
Retail (if you aren’t aware) let’s you drop trap(s) in combat and FD is basically only useful against people who click their abilities.
I see. I only care about classic though.
Rightfully so.
