Its a fantasy game. I don’t actually RP living in a mud hut.
Besides have you seen orgrimmar? There are no huts. There are actual brick and stone houses.
For me I just liked the horde originally from WC3. I liked Sen’Jin and Thrall and Hellscream, so naturally played horde.
I also completely resent the idea the Horde are the bad guys. Thrall and Saurfang and Baine want to speak to you.
Trailer is one thing, but we know from TWW alpha the main story factions are Earthen Dwarves and Arathi Humans. Also seems like the only new playable race (neutral) is dwarves. So yes the trailer has Thrall, but im not satisfied by that. Just a token horde. Could be anyone
Two Horde NPC’s I’d like to see going forward:
Zehkan/Zappi Boi. Not because he’s a particularly powerful shaman, but because he understands people, deeper meaning of why we do things, and that the Horde is family.
Alonsus Faol, who is a long term character who never stopped working to make the world a better place just because he’s dead. He could even be the one to explain some of the void connection, because he spent a lot of time during Legion in Netherlight Temple researching these things. I was expecting to see him on the forsaken council, but since he’s not…?
And half of the Horde playerbase wants to speak with you about that.
I was literally bullied for pointing out the fact that Baine is the heart and soul of the Horde (Canon fact).
As I was saying, clearly you and your fellow Horde players can’t agree on who represents the Horde. For you, Baine is a good Horde champion. For delusional copers (they exist unfortunately); he’s an evil traitor of Slay Queen Suevanas.
Same thing happened in Legion! At the time I felt it was neutral, all together fighting for a cause. But the prime movers of the plot were Alliance characters. They carry that development into future stories. Legion had Maiev, Khadgar, Velen, Illidan, Alleria, Turalyon.
“NEUTRAL/WORKING TOGETHER” = focused on alliance characters
Bro that is the point. There needs to be more character development from the writers so a leader emerges. The player base is not responsible for shaping the story. Are you being intentionally dense?
If we are going with “everyone is working together” then I would like to see a more even distribution of characters from each side, actually working together. Instead of all the Horde players just taking quests from Alliance Characters. or vice-versa.
I would like the Horde, as an organization, to have a more meaningful presence in the story alongside the Alliannce, and that just does not seem to be the case in TWW. i could be wrong.
that’s all I’m saying, and I do not feel that is unreasonable.
I was maining my Tauren Druid back then, and go to the Druid class hall. I get told “go talk to Archdruid Greathoof, he’s in charge” and I think… Greathoof? Oh cool he’s another Tauren.
Go to meet him and… oh. Nope. Another Night Elf. sigh
I’m reminded of Voss and Shandris having a quest series together in the Emerald Dream. There was a sentiment from players on both sides that it felt in poor taste.
Regardless, a fact remains that, “Horde content,” and, “Horde characters,” is not something the majority of Horde players have even reached consensus on.
Speaking for myself, the Horde needs an infusion of new blood into it’s oldest races. We need to see the C and B tier list characters rise up, and we need to see some diversity of thought and opinions. There should be some disagreements on the best way to handle a matter, so long as they don’t go the route of Civil War.
Characters like Thrall and Baine have become maligned in the views of players. That doesn’t mean they should be removed entirely, but it’s fairly past time other characters took the spotlight and developed. Let the Horde’s next generation rise up.
Blizzard has a problem in which they fail to distinguish between a leader who reflects their values, and a leader who is narratively interesting.
Right now almost all “good” leaders, both within Alliance and Horde but also in the factions we work with, are quiet spoken, hesitant to make impactful decisions, often unsure of themselves if they are young or newly find themselves in power, and so on.
That may be what you want in real life, but it makes for the most boring story imaginable when every dynamic character with a strong, proud opinion is a villain. The Horde was stripped of anyone with a personality, and even the Alliance had Varian killed and now Greymane and Tyrande retired. There’s no one left who is anything but a vanilla model of a good person.
We can separate fact from fiction. Give us jerks for leaders. Or idiots. Or sociopaths. Whatever, just make them dynamic so they can drive story opportunity and flesh out the different races from one another.
Ye another issue is that it seems that every racial leader is now friends with literally everyone. And apparently they don’t have disagreements and they never priotize the wellbeing of their own people (with few exceptions) and always seem to sacrifice their people in the name of said friendship
It doesn’t feel good playing Alliance either. Factions are just a cosmetic choice now. All new content is being developed as faction agnostic now, even BG Blitz.
Don’t waste your money with a faction change.
