It seems as if the layering “fix” is having ramifications across the entire map. At approx 6am on a Sunday morning I am unable to complete any quests in the Badlands due to major overcrowding of leveling players as well as level 40 players mass farming mobs (including quest mobs) and it is back to the same miserable experience that it was a week ago before layers were increased. There are more people present in the same small area now than there were during prime time just a few days ago.
I just want to get to level 40. I do not want to dungeon grind.
on the lone wolf server it is soooooo laggy that its unplayable. The only times that the lag seems to be “ok” is around 3am server time (5est). would really love to see something done about this 90% of the time my guild wont even go because the lag is so bad.
Stv event was a blast, tons of peoples, players everywhere! No lag at all “Red is dead” follow the loa and racked up about 1200 coins, my secret? Choas bolt… 4 layers, yall chose mega servers, whatever fix is implemented please dont let it effect our medium pop realm
Rotate the time that Blood Moon starts depending on the day to give a variety of available times. I have found that BM seems to always happen at times that I can’t get logged in, and when I can play it doesn’t fall on the every 3-hour rotation. It has been frustrating because my schedule isn’t going to change and it leaves me feeling like I won’t have access to STV much at all during phase 2.
Blizzard… if you’re going to waste my time… just tell me before hand.
Presently in a STV group that can only get 4/5 players on the same layer despite ALLLLLLL of us going to Darkshore together, and summoning…
Wasted 5 minutes of the event to do that. No I’m not taking down timestamps… it’s only a half hour event and the layering incompetence is wasting enough of it anyways.
This giant wall of posts is MORE than enough to show this garbage is broken…bunch of smoke and mirrors from blizzard. The event is broken and they know it.
Lag, near 3 second input delay and can’t get on the same layer as my party that we were in for 30m before the event started. Group split on layers.
Everyone. There’s about 50 people in my area at all times.
The entire zone.
Today, 2:30MST-3:00MST.
Living Flame (US)
I’m gonna edit this and say you really should always be forced into the same layer as your party. It’s actually unbelievable that this is still an issue caused by a CD for people layer hopping for resources, when you can sit in dungeons for the same farming faster.
Lone Wolf US - 5 man groups - 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm server time - Friday and Saturday 2/23-2/24. Each time I was able to get In the same layer as all five team mates with no issue, however the game is totally unplayable with the lag it’s impossible to even press buttons/abilities. Everyone is jumping around, I have spriest and warrior it is totally impossible as melee to even get damage off because no one is where they are showing up and will teleport several yards away. Still unfun and laggy but with ranged at least you still sometimes can hit people with spells if lucky. Last few weeks the event was perfect have had huge fights and 0 lag this weekend was like a switch was flipped and now it’s unplayable. Def would prefer however it was before with 0 lag even if it means towns are more empty or whatever, at least we could play the game during blood moons.
I was fighting near the Gurubashi Arena at roughly 3:00 PM server time Feb 25th on Living Flame as a solo player, and I experienced input lag that caused my abilities take 4-8 seconds to fire. There were about 20 other people in the arena going for the chest with me, while many players were fighting outside the arena.
The event is unfix able trash. You can’t even handle Wintergrasp in WOTLK w/o massive lag and thats INSTANCED pvp. Nuke the event and just add the loot/rep to playing AB instead.
I was in a group of 5 in northern STV (around where the boss was) for the February 25 3:00 pm event on Crusader Strike and experienced more lag than ever before. Was approximately 2 seconds of input lag along with substantial lag for affects on my character. There appeared to be at least 100 people nearby when by the boss, probably more. Almost impossible to play in any meaningful way. Additionally because of the extremely large amount of players the quality of the PVP was compromised. My whole group agreed that it was not a good experience. Lastly I will note that it seems to be very hard to find a rez ghost now. Not sure if that’s due to lag or something else.
All games that I’ve played from February 23 through 25 have been laggy to some degree. Another notable one was the February 24/25 midnight event, nearly as laggy.
I played a game on Sunday February 18 and there was no lag at all. Hope to see things go back to that.
Truly hope you are able to figure out how to layer zone by zone instead of the whole world, seems STV is in desperate need of more layers.
Infrequent layered events in a single zone where there are also people that are not participating in that event are recipe for an awful experience.
Grouped parties should be kept together on the same layer, but those parties should be spread out more along a few servers rather than waiting for a server to become overloaded to open another one. That doesn’t solve the problem of the server being overloaded. Start the event with X servers, and equally disperse groups into those servers, while keeping them together.
Have a layer specifically for people that are not participating via the Zandalari buff, so that those players have no impact on the busy servers that are doing the BM event.
Spread out turn in locations and have more of the Elite mob near those spawns so that people don’t congregate around the area immediately surrounding them, providing further speed buffs to the 20s of being safe after respawning, so people can regroup further away together and have less zones that are just bottlenecks of respawn aoe spam in big groups.
Imposing some sort of character anonymity during the event and only allowing 5 person groups to be formed so that there’s less way to bypass the limit on larger group by ‘group via not attacking friendly groups even though they are flagged as enemies to you’.
Seeing a bunch of enemies, but not being able to tell who any of them are encourages more team play within the group to keep every one together, alive and have target selection matter more.
Spreading the people around STV more will also cut down on the ‘Respawn and just spam AOE against a ball of people’ type gameplay that’s happening right now.
There’s a lot of very simple changes that could really help STV more and more as the casual audience starts getting more to 40 and getting involved in large events like this for BIS/upgrades/collectables like mounts and whatnot because if it just gets laggier and more ball fights, it’s going to make more people unwilling to participate and just be less accessible .
Chained spirits need reverted back there being static ones near altars. Current mech of them roaming around feels terrible. Doing the event as a non-priest healer feels pointless.
Besides that i’ve yet to have a bloodmoon that wasnt laggy as heck all weekend on lone wolf. Doesn’t matter what part of the zone, instant cast abilities have a 3 second ‘cast’ time (if you’re lucky, sometimes its 10 seconds).
Whatever changes you guys made ruined Bloodmoon even further with unplayable lag, worse spawning, and party layering is still broken. If you’re a player reading this, don’t even bother with the event until Blizzard unbreaks it. It was EXTREMELY FUN before the party-layering problems and all the subsequent attempts to “fix it,” so I hope it is returned to its former glory.
I haven’t gone through the whole thread to see if someone else has said this, but the way I’ve been able to fix the party layering as a player is to have someone that has never been in your party from another layer that is not being load balanced invite your entire party. Usually if you freshly log on a character on an alt account, that character will be on a suitable layer to do the inviting.
You can do an endless amount of disbanding and re-inviting with characters you were trying to party with initially and it will almost never fix the layering problems.
Maybe this will help the devs finally fix the layering problem and undo whatever terribleness they’ve tried in the meantime.
Wild Growth rarely had laggy Bloodmoons until about a week ago. Please put it back.
Also, add the extra Chained Spirits back. People tend to congregate around the Blood Loa for the bonus coins and being forced to spawn at the same Chained Spirit out of range of an altar with 100 other people makes the experience so much more miserable. Being able to make the tactical decision to take a longer res in a better location makes the event better for everyone.
Couldn’t all the members of my group at Rebel Camp. We kept trying to re-enter the zone coming togheter from Duskwood, but someone always would be on a diff layer.
Also, while pacified you shouldn’t be affected by CC debuffs like hunter frost trap, mage frost nova, etc…makes the run back incredibly bad. Overall the event is pretty bad and laggy and people are already finding how to exploit by just AoEing the altar (and they’re not wrong bc that’s the only way you can actually play), making the experience awful for everyone. STV probably needs 10x more layers in order to this event to work as intended and not a clown fiesta that it is atm.
Would like to add that a common pattern I’m seeing is that the layer count decreases over time, and then suddenly a bunch of people log in for bloodmoon, making the few layers left extremely laggy, and then after the event a bunch of layers get created for a short while before repeating.
The delayering feels a lot more aggressive now and I find that the layers I’m on are always extremely conjested. Living Flame US, during the hours of 12am and 6am.
