How about not requiring a subscription just to test your game. I get that BFA is tanking hard, but it’s the fault of the devs (particularly Ion) that it’s tanking. Hire better devs for BFA and you won’t need to pad subs. I didn’t have to pay to beta test WoD, so why should I have to pay for Classic, where most of your target audience for it can’t stand BFA?
Way too crowded. It was so bad in the Tauren starting area that I just logged after trying to complete a quest for over 30 minutes. There were at least 25-30 people doing the same in the same area.
I understand that this is pretty normal and I have gone through similar bottlenecks in WoW’s launch history. But this is 2019, and even as this is to replicate the Classic version of WoW, this kind of congestion is not fun, nor should it be not possible to over come.
I started right when the servers came up on realm 14 (PvP) and it felt somewhat crowded, although I quickly got ahead of the pack and it was fine. The servers came down after maybe 20 minutes or so and everyone was funneled into servers 3 and 15.
I went on 15 and a friend was on 3. 15 was unplayable. The entire start area for orcs/trolls was flooded and mobs had to spawn on your head to have a chance of killing them. I gave up after about 20 minutes and went to server 3. Server 3 in the dwarf/gnome area was laggy initially although there wasn’t much crowding. After maybe 10 minutes the lag cleared up and I was able to play without a problem. I have been playing ever since with no issues of lag or crowding. I see other people, although not that many, and am able to easily complete all the quests. I have grouped with 2 friends and have had no issue getting together with them for the same layer. It has felt really good, I would rather have less crowded areas initially to be able to get a few levels and out of the starter areas and then see more people later on.
Playing on Realm 3 High Population
- Was pretty crowded from levels 1-5 in durotar starting zone.
- Through levels 5-10 I saw roughly around 10-20 people in majority of Durotar.
Would like to say many thanks for the opportunity to have a little taste of classic through the stress test, have been needing a fix for a very long time!
Good luck and see you in Azeroth!
P.s I resubbed purely for the stress test or possible chance at BETA invite.
Mainly Elwynn Forest was overrun after the server crunch. But that’s what the Tram is for!
Realm 3 (PvP) 3pm-5pm MST
Starting zone for Nelves were packed but just as packed as I’d expect for a launch day.
Second zone was a pretty sudden drop, and anything past that felt like a total ghost town (Darnassus + Auberdine)
Realm 15. Managed to stay ahead of the Zerg. Possibly the first lock to get the imp book.
Pretty crowded in northshire, but, still able to work with it. Westfall has enough people to group up with, and not so many that it’s difficult to get mobs. Played nearly 10 hours straight, taking some time selling bags and a few wands as well. Lvl 12
Overall it was really fun and exciting
When the servers first came up I rolled on the RP server. It was the perfect amount of population to not be girdlocked. Then blizz shut down all the servers but two pvp and then quests became impossible to finish due to mob contention.
I saw the twitter intergration in my client and I could not hear game sounds over my blood curdling in my ears. Take. twitter. integration. out. of. classic. wow. it. is. not. suppose. to. be. there.
It was not in classic, it should not be in classic, remove it.
On server 3, at 550pm Sydney time, I was dc’d from Durotar(as was everyone else) and when I logged back in, all keybinds and interface option were reset, apart from the extra action bars I enabled
I don’t care about the missing quests, they were superfluous anyway. The ones I remembered were the bad druid in the cave behind the main building in Dolonar, and the quest for the necklace and the gem. But they might not have been there in Vanilla. I remember them being there when I rolled my very first character, a NE hunter. That was not in the beginning of Classic, I did not start until right before Wrath dropped. But a lot of those quests I was told had never been changed.
I do hope they have rp servers and rp/pvp servers for those who enjoy them. The thing I loved about the game when I first started was how nice everyone was to each other, and helpful. It seems to be missing a lot in BfA. Not totally, but enough to notice.
The starter zone was tough, but as I moved into the rest of the zone it was great, I was playing on Server 15 I believe, the high pop- pvp
Realm 13 - from launch until now(11 hours solid.)
I found myself unable to complete any quests, even in a group. We had to resort to grinding mobs a few levels higher than ourselves to gain any experience. This persists even as I log off at the moment.
Wasn’t really able to get to other zones.
Will certainly not be rolling on a high population realm. What would normally take 3-4 hours solo took an entire day in a full 5 man group.
I have been playing for about 2 horus now, level 7, on server 3. its 651pm Sydney time, not really any competition for mobs. It’s convenient, but the world seems empty
Was real smooth. Made it to lvl 11 with 78 mining and 45 blacksmithing in 3 Hours and 30 minutes. Seems about right
Rolling as a Tauren I didn’t have much issue. Certain spots were pretty crowded, but overall I was able to level just fine. I suspect it’s because Tauren are not as popular as other races. The only issue I had with layering was mobs despawning while fighting them (specifically the crocolisks along the Southfury River when I ran over to Durotar). Overall it was a pretty smooth experience for me.
Realm 15. 1400-0200 PDT
Realm 3 here … started at around 5:00pm cst
Population would be fine if the spawn rate could keep up. Took a looong time to find the first kill.
Next zone … didn’t log around midnight cst. Did seem a bit empty, but it was late.
I’m NA North East / EST.
Server 15 @ ~ 6pm EST:
Decent ms (40 ish), but there was 30-60 second delay on certain actions like quest dialogue opening when you prompt it or the loot UI opening when you try to loot. You’d just sit there waiting unsure if anything was happening. Also, way too over populated. Tried both Tauren and Human zones. Would see players and mobs within 20 yds phase out which wasn’t cool.
Server 3 @ ~ 7pm EST:
Same thing as above, but closer too 100ms. Overpopulated, laggy UI quest/loot prompts, etc. unironically unplayable.
Server 12 @ ~ 9pm EST:
Human zone only. Perfection. Server was classified as low population when I joined, and when I stopped around 11PM. Not sure if that affected layer sizing, but population seemed really close to a good number, maybe 10-15% overpopulated for the perfect experience. Did duo leveling with a friend and mob tagging was timely but strategic and Northshire took about 50 minutes to complete. Maybe I dodged the initial rush, who knows. MS was good, around 40 like server 15, but there was no lag/delay at all with any action.
It felt quite crowded, but manageable.
I am groggy this morning because for the first time in a while, I was enticed to play later to gain the extra levels. Good job Blizz!
Realm 2 I believe it was, was wayyyy overcrowded in the starting zone for humans. If you didn’t have some sort of ranged attack you would be running around for 10 min before you could kill one mob. Not a big deal as long as it gets better in the other zones.
