For my 1st go at checking this out, I did so on a class I’m thoroughly familiar with, Balance Druid, to gauge it’s logic. I purposefully took Fury of Elune, Wild Mushroom, and Convoke & did so as Keeper of the Grove for Force of Nature to see how those would all fit in.
My first bit of testing only had the Highlight active then I put the the SBA on my bars. I started with open world mobs, then went to Training Dummies.
- In pure single target it did a decent job of keeping me in the correct Eclipse state, but occasionally got it wrong.
- In cleave situations it got messy, the Highlight & SBA spell kept bouncing all over the place mid-cast/mid-GCD so if I was actually trying to learn I’m sure I’d be confused. Eclipse state logic was wonky.
- I have to assume the schizophrenic nature of the recommended ability is due to the Builder-Spender process & AP constantly fluctuating. It changes so fast & randomly compared to what I know I should be doing that I felt like I was watching one of those movies where they shake the camera around way too much, dizzying.
- Wild Mushroom was overlooked the most, or sacrificed for another ability, that charges were getting wasted. I tried to keep an eye on my Waning Twilight debuff to see if it corresponded with that, but it was hard to monitor it all.
- At least it made sure if I popped out of Moonkin form it recommended getting back in.
- SBA conveniently placed my Force of Nature on top of my target with no need to place a reticle or use @cursor…is there a @target on the horizon for these type of spells?
- Using SBA is very spammy & with the quick switches happening, Convoke is susceptible to getting wasted/cut short if you interrupt the channel.
In it’s current state, learning/practicing a rotation doesn’t appear optimal with the frenetic highlight changing. Maybe my perception is skewed for a class I know. I will try next on something I’m less familiar with like Dev Evoker or Windwalker.
For someone learning I think you need to handicap channeled spells somehow besides just the cast bar.
