Feedback: Shado-Pan Monk

I’m unsure if there’s already been dev communication on discord or elsewhere, as it seems they’re active on discord more on the forums these days, but Flurry Strikes’ implementation seems a tad… awkward for this stage in development?

I’m not certain what’s the point of having two separate activation modifiers – why not a simple “After you deal X of attack power worth of damage, you make a follow up flurry strike.” The stacking gate behind energy spent seems both awkward and superfluous. Just eyeballing it, I have a feeling it was made in line with the slew of hero talents that are functionally “every 30 seconds you do something kinda neat with some random passives on the side” (prime other examples being -both- ret ones, lol).

I think there’s definitely some really cool concepts in the tree, for example a potential ramping nature of WotW to give WW some ST identity its sorely lacked in place of its current roll the bones mechanic. Flurry Strikes could give some energy or decrease the CD of WDP and Strike of the Windlord, emphasizing the incredible fluidity we saw from Taran Zhu in the cinematic. However, feels like shado-pan needs more time in the oven which is a bummer given that Shado-Pan feels like the definitive monk. Maybe there’s something I’m missing.

Shado Pan can be fixed with one really simple change. Make Flurry Strikes a castable ability, off GCD, that becomes usable after spending 300 energy. It will perform identically to how it does now (no extra GCD) and will actually feel like a real hero spec rather than being 100% passive. The ability to hold the cast if it becomes available after most of a pack is dead so you can use it on pull with the next pack will also be a huge QoL improvement.

PLEASE blizzard. This change makes so much sense for making the spec more fun. PLEASE.

Its too late brother

Call me naive but Blizz has been better at iterating on player feedback in the last like 18 months than the 15 years before it combined. At this point I’m going with “it’s never too late.”

This completely. It feels like there is a whole in the on use abilities now that expel harm and chi wave are passives (having them as passives also makes them near useless).

Yeah. Agree with this but I also see why it’s passive for those that don’t want more button bloat.

It would be cool if there was a visual indicator you’re about to pop off. I don’t want another weak aura.

I don’t mind it being passive. However, it’s janky that they tied it to energy. It’d have been neat if it was activated on use of SotWL or FoF.

Also please for the love of god, raise the stack count or reduce the amount of energy we need to proc it, or both. 10 stacks is surprisingly easy to come by.
