My gear averages 4/8 Honor Gear, enchanted and potion-ed up.
BM Pack leader.
Still doing 1/3 the damage as other classes with similar or worse gear.
My pet in the underground zones doesn’t growl consistently. Some fights they work fine, some they don’t growl, and when I growl manually, I don’t see a reduction in my aggro %. Monsters are slow to register aggro shifts to my pet, and I usually get hit a couple times while the system registers that I am not 100+% anymore.
Beast cleave appears to be doing no aggro generation, as when I multishot, anything my pet has not directly attacked for a few seconds makes a beeline for me. Stomp is the same, and generates inconsequential aggro if any.
In conclusion, I spend most of every fight trying to peel aggro off me and backing up the whole time. The experience feels like being dog-piled while I try to stay alive. Every encounter is a tentative approach as I know whatever I pull is going to wail on me for half it’s health while I frantically tab from mob to mob and try to establish aggro. As of this expansion, I end most fights having cast mend pet 2-3+ times and with half health. My pets routinely die if I pull more than three common mobs regardless if I keep mend pet on CD. FD has become a required part of my rotation for multi trash pulls.
I look over and see DHs and warriors jump into trash packs and kill them in about 3-5 seconds.
This is not fun. BM hunter feels like a victim class.
And Epstein didn’t kill himself.

It’s a LOT of work to just be producing bad DPS.

Beast cleave is not a mob killer so much as it used to guarantee that trash packs of mobs would glue to your pets and not bum rush you.

Because the duration is not necessarily a perfect multiple of your GCD, this would likely cost you a cleaved auto-attack or uptime to wait out the difference.
And if not for that obvious issue, since you only use MS per BC duration anyways, what warrant would there be for the damage increase? You’d have lost QoL for open-world for no compensatory benefit.
Why is Affliction a Shadow DoT class? Why does Demo have ramp?
Beastmastery was designed to be a ramp class. It ramps doubly through its primary DoT (directly through damage to a single target per action and indirectly through consequent Frenzy stacks).
If you dislike that, the solution isn’t to make Barbed Shots oGCD to make the spec even more oonga bunga by removing its last vestiges of, but to ask for an alternative to Frenzy and/or Barbed Shot.
And chances are that most BM players will shut that down, if only because they don’t want to split a spec they already consider iconicly built around Frenzy and Barbed Shot with… whatever your particular preferred fantasy may be. But them’s the breaks.
I think beast masters cannot be at a healer in AOE fights.

I REALLY hope this hero tree does not become meta, I will have to roll off of hunter. Zero new animations or anything tying into the class fantasy.

it’d be nice if packleader had sv and bm share a talent from eachother’s trees; give sv exotic taming and aspect mastery and give bm ranger or sic’ em, i think that would provide a lot of flavor to a very bland and unappealing hero tree
Put in the changes before season please.
They should just replace Multi shot with a pet summon on a cooldown that triggers beast cleave while it’s out, can even make the pet a ranged pet that shoots “multi shot spits” to bring back wind serpent spits from classic.
Currently BM’s gameplay only feels good in PURE ST when you’re ramping all the dots on the target to start rolling and getting to critical mass, whereas in aoe you are a joke outside cooldowns and with cooldowns you’re just anyone else outside their respective cooldowns or worse.
Bonus: Rename Pack Leader to “Kill Commandant”

I really hate the fact that I HAVE to take Call of the Wild in both BM hero talent specs, because of the capstone. I mean, if that was going to happen, why is CotW a talent and not just given to us?

If only they were already addressing this with the dark ranger update, oh wait they are.
I thought I was doing something wrong, when it came to pets and Growl and aggro. I’m pulling off my pet FAR too easily. Guess I’m not alone there.
There are far more smarter people here commenting about issues so I’ll defer to them on the numbers.
I will point out that your Hero Talent capstone essentially requires Call of the Wild. That makes Call of the Wild NOT a choice. STOP designing talent trees OR set bonuses that require a specific talent investment, especially for talents so deep in the tree. The whole point of talent trees is to have a little freedom in what you choose… then you make certain talents mandatory because … reasons??
You did this to Enh Shaman in Dragonflight with their tier set bonsuses. I didn’t mind taking Sundering but if someone didn’t want that talent… well, they were forced into it. Then you did it again with the next tier and Primordial Wave. Don’t do stuff like this.

Pack Leader’s visual design needs a serious overhaul; it’s incredibly bland and boring. Additionally, its new mechanic forces players to spam one button (KC) endlessly.
I suggest the following improvements:
- Allow the use of one-handed weapons for the Survival specialization while using Pack Leader
- Increase the duration of the second pet from Beast of Opportunity.
- Add special visual effects on the pet while using Kill Command and during the Vicious Hunt proc. Perhaps introduce red or golden-yellow glowing effects to enhance the experience.
- Revise the main mechanic to gain procs from Kill Command and spend them on Raptor Strike/Mongoose Bite.

What do you think about adding some pet sustain and better aggro in the tree. Pets seem to take too much damage and require constant healing right now.
Should put an effect on you, too. As well as add an attack from use like an axe throw or a shot from our side crossbow/ranged weapon. I also think the cap stone should have either an enrage or a bleed effect that interacts with our other dots. A audio queue would be good here too. A primal roar would be fantastic. Let others know we are on the field and about to pop off.
I want to add, Pack Leader needs better cleave interactions

Fix bm hunter. It is broke.

The new talent trees were never about actual choice, only the illusion of choice.
Going back to the Mists through Shadowlands system would be far better for content balancing.
