Yup.
The term “carrying” is fine. We all basically understand what that entails. Which, again, I have no problem with. Everyone now and then will need help. Hell, there have been plenty of times where my game was definitely off for the day (hell, I remember an entire week of being off my game). S’all good; $#!+ happens.
I don’t think anyone will argue with this logic. But there may be times when “helping” another player may not be optimal. Such as
-
You yourself may be concentrating to just survive while in battle. Biggest dps loss is being dead.
-
Sometimes players need to learn certain mechanics by dying. It’s a harsh truth because I’m one of those players. My mindset will be “WTF just killed me?” And from there I’ll try my best not to let it happen again.
-
Players with a bad attitude (we’ve ALL encountered this) or telling me I’m not playing my character correctly. My attitude will be–“welp, looks like I’ll be using my Retribution Aura a lot for THAT player.”
Although your overall stance on the matter is definitely logical, as you yourself stated: “There are definitely thresholds.”
Good talk. Definitely learning, as always.
