Feedback on Classes in Dragonflight

Improved Blazing Barrier’s position in the talent tree feels out of place.

I don’t understand what Meteor does in the class tree, it feels out of place.

The mage class talent tree feels very limited as a lot of important mage skills are there, in general it feels like you lose potential compared to the current mage, the easy solution would be to reduce some talents from 2 or 3 points to 1 or 2 points.

Note: It feels like a waste of opportunity not introducing frostfire spells in the general tree.

I think you had a lot of potential to add all new spells/abilities in with the new talent system and have failed in doing so.

The way it is currently designed for DK for instance is a mish mash of the same ol’ same ol’ with very little real impactful fun choices.

So I agree with many others I have read and the sentiment that you merely copy pasted stuff into this and it’s meh. Not a bad start to something new but very very lacking in creativity.

Give us moving consecration back. Was MoP glyph that made Protadin really fun.

At first glance the talent trees are ok, but they need serious reworking. There should be no linking. There’s zero choice, except where they would be choice in the current talent system. Fire mage for example is just speccing to what we already have. Why is Pyroblast the only option in the first row? Why is fire blast and scorch not a baseline ability that is unlocked at a certain level? There’s not enough options, there is no choice to be made early on. Look at the Classic talents, they give 4 spells max per tree and everything else is baseline. Why are there so many spells in these trees? Taking Fire Blast is not a choice for a Fire mage, it’s mandatory.
Talent trees should change your gameplay, Frost AoE spec, frost raiding spec, Frost/Arcane, Fire Arcane, Fire Icy Veins, you are relying on something different for each of these specs. Current tree is the same thing it’s been for 4 years, instant Pyroblasts. This then goes into “stack crit right?” haha no, have to pay for a simulator to see what’s best. Why is that even a thing?

If the goal is to make us choose, then there has to be more options in the tree and less points required to get to the next row. It’s not like we are choosing between a Fireball one button spec or the current proc based Pyroblast spec. You play the class one way. There’s not really any choices that change how your class or spec plays compared to now.

This is extremely overlooked. The “new” talent system is just the current talent system. There’s no choice and there’s nothing that changes gameplay at all.

idk if this post is still looked at but i got some feedback for the recent unholy tree changes
so far i like pretty much everything that has been added, but it feels very difficult to get enough things to feel like you have a completed build, like theres all these new awesome pet synergies and death coil synergies that i cant even fully use together because of pathing/lack of points. Work this issue out and i think we will have a banger talent tree going into dragonflight (my personal suggestions, make some of the 2 point nodes into 1 point nodes, and also PLEASE PLEASE move Unholy Ground out of the damn way nobody wants that garbage torghast ability)

If you’re still looking at this, please don’t let the Mage Class and Arcane trees go live in their most recent iteration. As rough as the initial Class and Arcane trees were, they were infinitely better for me than the current ones.

I intentionally don’t take Arcane Orb for a reason. Please don’t force it on me. If possible, please consider making it a “choice node”. I’d rather take anything else. The reason I don’t like Arcane Orb is because of how it functions. It’s a directional spell that requires me to be able to aim it properly and I am ridiculously bad at that. There’s a reason I prefer a tab targetting MMO’s over “action combat” MMO’s.

Arcane Orb also inevitably ends up aggroing things I don’t want it to as it goes its full range unless there’s geometry to stop it. The idea that I’d be forced to waste a point taking it and never use it (because it’s never going on my bar) feels bad.

Secondly, please swap Diverted Energy with Grounding Surge. I don’t want to take Alter Time at all. I just don’t use the spell at all and was really looking forward to NOT taking it in Dragonflight… which I was able to do in the initial iteration of the Class tree but cannot do now if I want to get Diverted Energy. I also like taking Slow, but the current Class tree requires me to take Grounding Surge to get it. Diverted Energy is infinitely more valuable to me than Grounding Surge.

If that’s too much to ask for then consider making Alter Time a “choice node” with Reflection. I’d actually use Reflection whereas I virtually never use Alter Time. Also why did Displacement get renamed to Reflection? The spell already existed in Legion, so why the rename?

Additionally, would it be too much to ask that Temporal Anomaly only trigger in combat? The random sounds and visuals when I am just hanging out, traveling, etc can be a bit distracting at times.

And lastly, a few questions. Why is there so little Fire in the Class tree? It seems dominated by Arcane and Frost. And why is Rune of Power still a thing? Will Incanter’s Flow be buffed to be in the realm of competitiveness with Rune of Power? Because right now, I don’t care what kind of magic math you’re using in sims, but in real play, the gap between the two is far too significant.

id def. be playing it if it became that way. it’s the only thing that makes me stay away.

i like the lonewolf idea and the archer that relies on his agility/skills rather than his pet but the immersion is ruined if i have to pull a pet for lust lol.

very good idea. would make MM infinitely more desirable for me.
