Feedback: Midnight Season 2 Class Sets

The only way i can justify this tier set right now is that there are BDK changes coming not yet announced….. if not then its just plain bad and BDK falls further behind.

The enh tier set from a design and pvp perspective is probably one of my least favorite to date as the 2 set is not meaningful or interesting in any way. Then the 4 set is the exact same way along with the fact that one hero tree has a 26% crash lightning modifier which might make totemic unviable

  • Subtlety

    • 2-Set Bonus: Backstab costs 10 less Energy and deals 100% increased damage. Shuriken Storm costs 5 less Energy and deals 60% increased damage.

    • 4-Set Bonus: Lingering Shadow now also benefits Eviscerate and Black Powder at 100% effectiveness.

Regarding the Subtlety Rogue set bonus. It feels entirely antithetical to the entire identity of sub rogues, with the major intent of their gameplay loop to dump most of our damage into the Shadow Dance window with an assumably spikey damage profile. Buffing abilities like backstab really doesn’t hit the mark in spec identity.

I am assuming the 4-Set bonus is intending to reference Lingering Shadow in lieu of Lingering Darkness, but even then it will reduce overall flexibility in shadow dance timing as it would end up requiring the use of shadow dance back-to-back. This eliminates the ability to use a single dance as a flexible option when a high priority target needs to be burst down in M+ or raid, when considering the optimal playstyle.

100% agreed; It also feels extremly bad that the class most thematically opposed to “strong cds weak sustained damage” (demon hunter) is also getting a tier set pushing us further into CD based burst.

the only thing this tier set is going to do is make Havoc feel even worse outside of eyebeam/Essence break

also this is going to force Havoc into an even stricter talent loadout and make us an even more eyebeam focused spec; so we can enjoy being second fiddle to dev again where they get “eye beam but better” while also being ranged instead of melee

So why change the magus bolt from shadowfrost to shadow and frost bolts. UH gets 0 scaling on frost bolts from our pets (yes the increase in pet damage) but the overall no. its really hinders the dps to go based on RNG like straight rng.

None of these goals are met by these Holy Priest tier bonuses. They limit spec variety (requiring Lasting Words and Light’s Resurgence) and nearly lock out Archon as a hero spec option given Renew’s higher significance to Oracle.

At least you get better mogs than we do

Holy Priest here.

What are you guys even doing? The first tier set was so bad that I don’t even use it and now you’re giving another one that’s so bad I might end up going another season without using the tier set.

The two-piece bonus is just going to make me run out of mana faster. If the encounters are designed around that, fine, I’ll take the passive 6% increase.

The four-piece bonus is going to come out to about 1% more HPS. That’s well within the territory of ignoring the set bonus alltogether and just picking gear with proper secondaries.

EDIT: Apparently you can pick the secondaries on your Tier pieces now so it doesn’t really matter to me what this set does.

This tier set is extremely lackluster, the 2pc leans heavily into feast or famine gameplay, which is not a good direction for Ret.

The 4pc is the biggest concern, it’s extremely degenerate, it requires you to use single target abilities in AOE situations and vice versa, needs redesign immediately.

This isn’t it. A 2pc that can’t be activated without a lucky proc. The proc gives the worst secondary stat that doesn’t actually make any noticeable changes. The 4pc boosts a spell that you’ve pruned from us. Please change this. We’re sick of being at the bottom. Sick of not getting invited to high keys. Give us a tier set that doesn’t pigeonhole us into choosing a strict talent build for minimal upside.

Monk Windwalker
Raid, M+, Dungeons

The tier set in combination with the nerfs to Zenith stomp feels like going backwards on WW’s damage profile. Stomp gave Windwalker instant burst which it was sorely missing but now making the tier set being a full FoF cast to ramp into a big SCK hit feels like we’ve gone right back to where the spec was previously for AOE. The tier set also makes having to cancel a FoF for an interrupt or needing to quickly move an even larger DPS loss (can we maybe look at finally getting rid of a melee class having a channel?).

Conduit also still feels very bloated CD wise, Xuen feels tacked on and Zenith just feels like it’s effect could be part of Conduit for the Hero spec. The short buff windows for doing damage also feels very contrary to Midnight class design that got rid of that for most specs and this tier set + class balance changes makes it worrying that Windwalker might be forced into Conduits clunky state to be competitive.

Also the Monkey King appearance looks sooo bad and the head will not mesh with any other mog (shoulders also look out of place). Can we please get out of MoP for Monks? There was a perfect opportunity to use the old Zul Aman Loa avatars as models for the tier set (not to mention using the boss abilities as tier set bonuses). Shamans do nothing with Loa nowadays and are all about the elements, meanwhile Monks are the only class actively dealing with Wild Gods in the Celestials and there’s so much more monks could lean into with Wild Gods to expand the class lore when Shamans and Druids really aren’t doing anything with them anymore.

These do not achieve the goals you listed as creating a more complex bonus than in Season 1. It is actively detrimental to the enjoyment of the spec because it fundamentally undermines what makes it fun i.e. cooldown planning and execution. In fact, it does the exact opposite

Theoretically, this 2pc has potential thanks to the Lasting Words capstone. The cap will need increasing for it to feel worthwhile. It should at least be stacking up to a 10% bonus. If the stacking bonus is also buffed, we could potential be looking at a constant Power Infusion effect anything we cast a Holy Word, which is neat.

The 4pc seems meh, mostly because it’s just awkward. Theoretically, it’s already easy to get renew rolling on multiple targets now that the 4pc doesn’t seem to do anything worth committing 4 pieces to it. A massive Renew healing buff would probably make more waves.

I like where it’s going as I am always in favor of giving less popular talents (like Lasting Words, Gales of Song, and Say your Prayers) a chance to really shine. However, the biggest issue presented by this tier set is it does nothing to shift us away from dependence on Ultimate Serenity. Where it was just less efficient before, we now can’t even entertain dropping that point because it guarantees near permanant uptime of the 2pc bonus.

finally a good thing for Incarnation lovers, now i just hope the Convoke cast dont count as combo points used

going to be honest with you guys. the lack of hpal changes along with whatever the tierset is makes me think you don’t have someone working on hpal

should i reroll, or

I’m not really sure where this sudden fixation on Slam has come from, but it’s a pretty lame button. I don’t feel like the apex talent of heroic strike is doing much to help it either.

The Fury bonus is perhaps slightly interesting, if only because it might incentivize talent changes to Raging Blow talents. Buuuuuut, those talents are even more boring generally than the Bloodthrist talents we’re using in season 1. This doesn’t feel like a win, or gameplay gain, and is just forcing (pending tuning) bad talents that currently underperform.

Love this tier set, it introduces a button which was previously barely used into our rotation (reap) while also giving us a proc to react to, another source of AoE damage outside of our cooldowns, AND brings instant cast consume from PvP over to PvE. There are however a few bugs with the 2pc:

Eradicate cannot trigger the 2pc bonus, even though it consumed the correct amount of souls. This causes us to lose a lot of procs both in ST and AOE

Soulburst (2pc damage component on consume) does not scale with Mastery.

Blood DK. All forms of content.

Is this 15% increased attack speed set bonus (With the intention of throwing out more D&Ds) a late april fools joke?

There is no form of content this is useful in. This is not a set bonus, this is a minor balance adjustment to the class.

The BDK tier bonuses are actually so incredibly bad that it feels like a developer is personally taking a grudge out on blood dks with the tier and balance changes
