Feedback: Midnight Season 2 Class Sets

Devastation Evoker Raid / M+ initial feedback from dummy dome testing

The 2pc is most impactful in single-target; mainly because of Star procs from Scintillation. Getting max-power Stars from Disintegrate casts changes Star from a very minor damage bonus to a major chunk of our overall. This is highly dependent on the Scintillation talent.

The effect is also very strong in aoe, but requires the Star Salvo talent along with Eternity’s Span. This has the highest impact on 2 or 3 targets (again due to Scintillation) but is still very worthwhile in large aoe.

A powerful effect overall, with healthy additions to gameplay by encouraging upranking Eternity Surge in aoe, but problematic talent costing issues.

Not sure why the Eternity Surge bonus is included; feels unnecessary with the 2pc and slightly skews toward single-target. If you want to buff Eternity Surge, just do it already.

The Causality bonus is strong in all scenarios and feels good for both specs; more Mass Disintegrates for Scalecommander, more Fire Breath to Consume for Flameshaper. Feels more impactful in aoe due to Volatility, but should give similar value in single-target with Azure Celerity; hard to tell yet if there’s any meaningful disparity between specs or scenarios.

Too-short cooldowns can result in hectic gameplay and resource flooding, as we have seen with prior tier sets. So far this feels like a safer way to juice the rotation, simply buffing cooldown reduction without giving extra essence bursts or ability charges.

The tier set itself seems fine; the issues are all with talent diversity. Buffing Causality locks in Volatility and Azure Celerity (already very important). Scintillation becomes incredibly important and absolutely requires Eternity’s Span and Star Salvo.

Scalecommander cannot afford both Star Salvo and Power Swell; this will be a major issue, please see discussion in class thread.

Flameshaper can take these talents, but this forces Flameshaper into a Blue build, reducing diversity. Feed the Flames becomes impossible to reach in M+ without losing critical talents; Pyre is already worse than Disintegrate on 2 targets even with Feed the Flames, and this massive buff to Scintillation might put Disintegrate above Pyre on 3 or 4 targets.

More testing and analysis needed but in short:

  • Set bonuses themselves are fine
  • Star Salvo creates major talent costing issues
  • Scintillation proc’ing Star deserves serious consideration; is this healthy? do you want Disintegrate proc’ing a small effect that proc’s a much larger effect that hits 2 targets?
