Now you can play BM with a single pet out thats 10% bigger! Have fun while the MM hunters finally are free of having to summons and dismiss pet for lust
MM changes have me interested in the spec for the first time ever, so that’s good. BM is sounding pretty good from everything I read, but desperately, desperately hoping that we finally get the AOE we need to succeed in PUG content. You guys absolutely cannot sit on your thumbs and just hope we catch back up if we’re undertuned. BM’s state in early S1 was inexcusable.
Also, I’m rioting until we get Eagle Eye back on BM. No reason to take it away. Just because MM gets an eagle pet doesn’t mean BM suddenly can’t call on eagles for aid.
I love the idea of marksmanship becoming the falconer specialization. I would ask that you allow marksmanship hunters to choose the skin/model of their eagle pseudo-pet. I’d really enjoy being able to run around with one of the peregrine falcon models that were added in BfA.
That being said, I agree with many of the concerns that have been posted in this thread. Losing access to a pet tank for non-trivial solo content feels really bad as does forcing all players into this falconer fantasy. I hope the devs are able to implement the proposed changes as I would love to be a falconer, but I also hope they listen to some of the feedback here and can find solutions to the community’s concerns.
They are NOT uncecessary no serious MM hunter player enjoys the mechanics of lone wolf, not having two target cleave or the current talent tree thats seems to have no spec identity. With the rework we are getting ALL of that addressed and plenty of us are looking forward to test and check what they are doing to improve the spec.
When changing something so drastically, it needs to be backed up. The Eagle should have it’s own slot in the fancy new stable UI for customization, it should show up on the hunter’s shoulder when out of combat, it should absolutely be be nameable.
I do not think that blizzard is going to put in that kind of work though. It’s a major loss aesthetically and mechanically for player expression.
And also, about Packleader: The fantasy the Rexxar embodies is not that he has a bear, a wyvern, and a boar. it’s that he has pets. I don’t want to pretend to be Rexxar, I want to do my own thing that’s similar. Let him keep his pets, let me keep mine.
THANK YOU for adding Solitary Companion to BM. I hated being forced into two pets. This change single-handedly redeemed BM for me.
You mean like how BM was for 12 years before Legion forced us into two pets? Single pet was the class identity for over a decade and should always have remained an option. Hi, I’m one of those “weirdos” who asked for it.
As a BM hunter, I do not like the idea of being forced to have a boar, bear, or wyvern appear. My hunter has an all-tiger roster. It is part of the character fantasy and aesthetic.
Would you consider that some people don’t want their characters to look silly or adorable? I deliberately avoided the candle-on-your-head trinket even though it was higher ilvl because it simply looks stupid.
If these changes go forward, I will switch hero talents to Dark Ranger.
To say there are Fantasy Issues with Lone Wolf is an outright false statement, Several of the most prominent Hunter characters in the game have never been shown with any sort of animal companion including one of the face characters of the expansion.
In fact I would say the majority of Hunters in game have never been shown to even have pets. Sylvanas Windrunner , Alleria Windrunner , Vereesa Windrunner, Hauldron Brightwing, Shandris Feathermoon (who technically has one in a Book but it is her Mount so by that Metric every Frostwolf Orc is a Hunter including Thrall)
I would say that the opposite occurred, it was put into the game because there was already a set of Hunter NPCS who showcased that not all Hunters had companions and Lone Wolf was put into the game to give players that already existing concept.
Removing Lone Wolf and putting in a Nameless Random Bird isn’t a solution to the Primal Frenzy problem. Either give Hunters a proper Bloodlust effect or take it away fully . It has been forever since it was decided that pets should be a cosmetic choice and it is time to fully commit to that and just let Hunters use Primal Frenzy Regardless of pet.
Addtionally,
This is rewriting history, Right up until Legion Rexxar was considered the Iconic Beast Master Hunter. There wasn’t a singular question about it, him being able to use Melee weapons was a hold over from the days when all Hunters could use Melee weapons.
Him being made into Survival was somebody not checking the details, which is a problem that is repeated throughout Legion. He can’t even make use of the main Survival Hunter attacks because they require a 2 Handed Weapon to activate and he Dual Wields.
Not really - I picked up hunter to play ranged + pet. Already down to 2 specs once they killed my chosen spec - RSV. Now down to 1 spec if they kill MM. Whee - so many options for those of us who want ranged + pet.
Just coming in to add my voice regarding the MM changes. I hate them, and I’m a MM hunter who plays it specifically because I don’t want to use pets.
Not only are you taking a sledgehammer to an incredibly minor problem, but you’re making both sides unhappy. People who either didn’t take Lone Wolf, or didn’t mind losing its benefit when needed, now can’t use pets they’ve possibly spent years using. And people like me, who like MM for the fact it allows us a sharpshooter/lone archer fantasy, are now having an eagle forced on us that we didn’t ask for nor want.
I already disliked Sentinel forcing an owl on us just out of principle, but I could deal with it because it only comes out on a specific skill, I like somnowls, and I’m playing a Night Elf, so at least it feels thematically relevant. An eagle? Does not. I don’t want an eagle. I don’t want other MM hunters to lose access to pets they love and have spent years alongside.
Literally just give us a bloody button for Lust, and bake it in to our baseline skills. That is all you had to do in order to solve the “problem” of Lone Wolf MM hunters having to pull a pet out for Lust. Why in the world you guys consistently try to break apart and rebuild things instead of taking the literally easiest and most obvious route, is beyond me - but I’m tired of it.
Please rethink the MM changes. I don’t want to have to wholesale abandon a character, or otherwise use a spec that I don’t like playing and doesn’t fit her class fantasy, just because you guys don’t want to take the easy route. This sucks.
what? a lot of people hate two pets. it does not work being forced into terrible design feels horrid. Hunter was for years a one pet class until legion and there was never an issue.
