Feedback: Holy Priest

Holy priests are supposed to be a direct-cast healer, that’s their entire design. Group Heals and Heal-Over-Time are the designs of other healers like shamans and druids. That’s why Holy Words are the power and strength of our class. Instead of moving away from them, we should LEAN into them more.

Circle of Healing (CoH) should not have been removed, instead it should have been converted into a Holy Word, Holy Word: Prayer Circle, for example, with 2x stacks on an instant cast. It should heal outwardly from the selected target for a max of around ~3 million per target, diminishing by distance, on a 60 sec recharge like the other Words. Holy Word: Prayer Circle would heal its MAX amount on the target you cast it on, spreading to other players around that target for up to 5 friendly players.

THAT would have been the entirety of the change that is needed to make Holy Priests actually viable in M+. They didn’t need to add Prayer of Healing (PoH) changes… would have rather seen PoH removed, tbh.

BUT… now that we have these changes in PTR, do the same suggestion above for Prayer of Healing. Turn it into a Holy Word: Prayer Circle and have it function the same as above. As it’s stands right now, PoH is a joke and I will not be using it. The healing output is SIMPLY not worth it, especially when you throw a 2.5 second cast time on top of it. Do you realize how much characters in a dungeon or raid have to MOVE!!! Its just not really viable.

100% Agree here. Renew and its new companion “Empowered Renew” are extremely weak and I would not be changing my game play to use Renew either. We need the healing output of Renew to be BEEFED UP, way up… for it to be used in the way Blizzard claims to want us to use it. Its cooldown is too punishing and should be brought in line with other HOTs.

Oh and while you’re at it, BUFF UP Symbol of Hope — make it not only reduce the defensive CD’s of players within 40 yds, but ALL CD’s. OR we could make it the “Lust” of our class, but instead of Haste (like every other Lust-type spell) make it give us Critical Strike and the raid could have both Hate and Crit up (we need a raid buff like that). AND also bump the mana regen to 20%.

If Blizzard did these two changes, we’d be GROOVY!

That’s two words.

I don’t begrudge people who do want to stick to single-target healing… Blizzard seems to be keen on allowing that to remain a thing, but I don’t like it. The “Versatile healer” currently* can’t heal AoE damage without planting and going through bars one by one with single-target heals. Makes a couple of keys very “unforgiving” to heal and easy to fall behind if having to move as more than a free action.

Initial reports are potentially showing PoH stock on the rise with Lightweaver, but it would be better if PoH had a dungeon modifier on it, like Atonement does. We are seeing more public calls for that; hopefully that goes through with all of this talk of being more aware of spec balance. That would allow us to respond to more damage patterns without being oppressive in raids. Not all of us play Archon (I mean… apparently, 99.6+% of us do, but there’re a couple of us clinging to Hope, or Cope).

10000000% agree with this.
If they just tune it right I think it could make the spec great in M+ and raid

Some more feedback.

Archon

  • IMHO, Energy Compression needs to be removed, and the +30% damage/healing needs to be baked into Halo passively. Right now there’s no compelling reason to pick Sustained Potency.
  • The Oracle talent that extends GS by +2s should be in this tree instead. It makes more sense thematically.

Oracle

  • Definitely needs some more oomf to match Archon in raid healing.
  • Piety should be changed from only working on overhealing to just a raw AOE healing increase. The current cheese strat is to GS yourself and spam single target heals to replicate it to others.
  • Oracle needs better passive healing in M+ because the reason why Archon is better is because your Halo’s are free AOE healing on-top of SoL procs so you need to cast less overall Flash Heals in the dungeons. Archon is just more mana efficient.
  • Adding a talent that turns overhealing into absorbs or something similar would help Oracle as well.

Feedback from actually playing on the PTR:

  • Trail of Light/Dispersing Light placement feels pretty bad to me; it’s in such an awkward spot (so far down the tree) that going for it almost certainly means you need to also go through light weaver (and this past tier has been an entire tier of lightweaver being mandatory in both mythic+ and raid). Please swap it’s position with Everlasting Light.
  • Alternatively, maybe swap placement of Divine Image and Lightweaver? Or lightwell and Lightweaver? Lightweaver now has so many interactions with every filler spell we have - if there’s an unspoken expectation to always take it, maybe having it in the middle instead of off to the far left?
  • The “add an extra 1.5 seconds to apotheosis talent” probably needs to go away. I was getting 50% uptime on apotheosis without trying that hard (just taking all the CD reduction talents, but not geared/flasked/etc for haste). I think my best out of three tries was something like a minute twenty, and I’m sure people with more strategic approaches and a haste build could probably sit at like 70-80% apotheosis uptime. It wasn’t really fun gameplay, though, and I don’t want to see us tuned around the assumption that our apotheosis healing is where we should be, because then it’s just going to feel like everything sucks out of apotheosis. We don’t want a situation where instead of apotheosis being strong it feels like not-in-apotheosis feels weak.

For the love of god, GIVE US BETTER MOBILITY!!!

Increase the % speed and duration of FEATHERS and of Body & Soul.

Hey. I have a few thoughts from blizzard. Your class is garbo and its gunna stay that way, love blizz

Very thoughtful feedback. And it’s just what Blizzard needs to hear!!!

If my feedback is that they dont give feedback enough wouldnt that be feedback.

Fair, but what do you want to see changed then?

Changes dont matter if there was no thoughts behind them.
