General suggestion, make meteor extend the duration of combustion by at least the gcd it uses.
I was reviewing the talent calc and fire is going to be wicked !!! no matter what⌠(sunfury whoa)
the race im thinking about is either bloodelf or the earthen⌠in the dressing room for rock people they sure are flexible!! you should check out there animations⌠and the gear is nice tooâŚand I can eat gems ok I can do that ⌠pair this with engineering or jewelcrafting
and for the rotation im making a macroâŚits a mustâŚ
Frostfire bolt locking you out on both fire\frost is a deal breaker pvp wise. Soo many interrupts\range interrupts these days getting locked on both will be very painful.
My only request is to add in a passive around interrupts and frostfire bolt so if you are frost spec and they interrupt frostfire bolt you get locked on frost rather than on both. And for fire, you get locked on fire instead of both.
So the frostfire talent Isothermic Core litearlly does nothing if you donât take Meteor as fire mage is very questionable design to have a hero talent that functionally does nothing if you opt out of taking an optional talent.
Basically makes no sense hopefully they adjust the talent. If Meteor was baseline then the talent would make sense as long as Meteor is an optional talent having a hero talent that only functions around the use of said optional talent choice quite frankly boggles the mind.
It almost is embarrassing to even release something so fundamentally broken even into an alpha state let alone beta.
take meteor then? every hero talent uses mandatory talents. this isnt a issue
This is like saying technically you can play Fire mage without taking Combustion in your spec tree. I donât think this is a valid argument at all.
I liked the idea of frostfire, but it kinda sucks compared to spell slinger from a frost perspective. Itâs cool that you donât have to aim meteor like Fire has to, but itâs so scripted and infrequent compared to spellslinger with itâs endless rng orbs.
You guys are delusional show me any other example of a hero talent that is dependent on the conditional of an OPTIONAL talent. That is a huge failure intrinsically from a development stand point. If others do exist then the underlying point still stands and those should be addressed as well.
Lets take the current PVP meta for fire mages which does not spec into Meteor that would functionally render the talent useless. Hero talents dictating and forcing you to spec into optional spec talents again is intrinsically flawed design.
Why have optional talents in the first place? If the underlying design is to be forced into taking specific ones.
If I am being forced to take it then why isnât it baseline to the spec?
Also in before anyone attempts the asinine argument âwell you can still opt out of Meteor and accept the throughput lossâ. If an explanation of why that is awful development/game design is required then really we can end it at lets agree to disagree since I would get better traction have discourse with a wall.
cope? dh needs all its throwgalive talents and spirit bomb for veng, paladin needs wake of ashes and eye of tyr and lights prism. theres like a bunch, this isnt new nor a problem
Great question. This has been an issue since DF started. Alot of the best builds are cookie cutter and usuallly being âoff-metaâ yields sub-par results. The last time I had fun with a choice-based system was azerite traits, but that was only because there were a FEW powerfull off-meta traits that were overlooked. I wish theyâd fix it. That being said alot of hero trees outside of mage have talents you must take. You MUST take treants to be an effect keeper of the grove. You MUST take Eluneâs fury for the other balance tree.
The choice now is your hero spec and which playstyle you want to embrace for the given tree through it.

Just going to leave this here.
Iâm still pissed that they didnât use the Wrath of the Lich King Frostfire Bolt animation - best looking spell theyâve ever done.
While I agree, devilâs advocate says you as a frost mage shouldnt even have dragonâs brrath then bevause itâs fire, fire shouldnt have ice no a or frost nova, and arcane shouldnt have any except polymorph and slow.
Blizzard automatically addressed that with hero trees.
Frostfire = Frost + Fire, so can have Frost spells and Dragonâs Breath simultaneously for both specs.
Sunfury = Arcane + Fire, so can have both Arcane spells and Dragonâs Breath.
Similar for Spellslinger.
Yep, and tomorrow on retail and on beta, ice lance will be doing more damage than frostbolt. Woopty doo. Did I mention servers are probably going down until 3pm? Lmao.
You do realize in lore mages donât have âspecsâ right? They can do anything. In terms of Jaina she just prefers to use frost, probably because she was raised in the sea. But you have seen her use fire and arcane many times.
Eww. No thanks. Iâm literally bout to jump back over to mage from Druid as transforming can be annoying.
