Feedback: Epic Battlegrounds

Just wondering… now that the thread has been active for a good 3+ months… are there any planned changes/fixes to AV or IoC? And when can we expect Wintergrasp?

Are you wanting the Alliance to just stop playing BGs altogether so you can implement PvE bots into PvP?

Look at the battlegrounds and ask yourself why the Alliance can win even ONE BG but somehow not the others?

I was in av for well over an hour last night. It was amazing. Truly an epic bg again

Demolishers need a buff, not a nerf. I can almost always solo a demolisher if there are no other players around to defend it. Cannons outrange demolishers and can kill them on the way in; once they’re close enough to destroy the cannons it’s time to go out and destroy them on foot.

Glaives also need a buff. Currently they can be soloed even if there are people defending them. This makes them essentially useless if the other side has any competency at all. When Alliance is going for Hangar with the more distant flag over Docks with the nearer flag, you know Docks are worth too little compared to Hangar.

The allies killing the boss with siege needs to be fixed. The other night I was in an IOC that had the ally boss 50% dead before the horde gates fell and the allies still won. They can drop the horde boss so fast with the siege weapons.

Just did another IoC. It was very quickly over. There was really nothing to slow either side down, and it was the classic race to breach the walls and kill the general.

OTOH AV does seem less of a rushfest, but NPCs and objectives are still pretty pathetic and weak/ignored.

What I am after with epic BGs is at least an hour of fun, with no clear idea who will win, for at least half that time, with the possibility existing of a reversal.

What I still usually get, even after these recent changes: a rush (albeit a slower one in AV), and a pretty solid idea who’s winning within 10 minutes :frowning:

Mr. dev,

Alliance players are currently using an exploit in order to kill the Horde’s boss via siege/vehicle damage in Isle of Conquest. This definitely needs looking into by the dev team.

How it works is the exploiters/cheaters will park the vehicle(s) right at the entrance of the Horde keep building, aim up, and shoot. The “splash damage” of the vehicles seems to hit the Horde’s overlord boss “through” the floor and the Horde boss goes down in like 3-4 shots. Alliance players don’t always do this, but every few games or so Alliance players will resort to this exploit.

SUGGESTED HOTFIX: simply make the bosses in Isle of Conquest “immune” to all vehicle damage, in order to instantly fix this exploit/cheat.

I do not believe it was intended for the bosses to get 3-shotted by a single player in a siege vehicle. This exploit definitely goes against “play nice, play fair”.

Thank you for your time.

Horde can do this, too, you know. Just tank the boss by the front wall.

If you are going to nerf siege engines, nerf glaives, too.

I would say that it’s really annoying trying to steal bases in AV. The guards that guard graveyards make getting a new rez point really frustrating, and we shouldn’t need the 4 guards that guard graveyard points.

AV in it’s current state to me i’ve had too many games where they were decided pretty quick based on which bases were captured by the team fight and then it was just a long boring match with many people afking out.

They should make stealing nodes not require group PVE to make AV more interesting. I hardly queue epic BGs nowadays because I simply am not enjoying current AV.

The airship needs to be nerfed first, as it’s wildly overpowered relative to the other two points right now.

I think the hangar is fine as is. It has low uptime and limited control so it should be relatively powerful, otherwise it would be nothing but a mediocre version of a catapult with buggy parachutes—which I’m sure you remember is how it was before everything got rebalanced.

And yes, I second the notion that they need to do something about the vehicles being able to hit the boss through the floor. I don’t care that the Horde can (somewhat) do it too. The fact that anyone can do it is ridiculous.

Most of the group doesn’t run to hanger at the beginning of the game, they run to the workshop and glaives.

Just remove IoC, as they can’t seem to balance it, just like SotA

Yeah and then the Alliance won’t have a single BG to win.

Sorry, but until they balance Silvershard and BfG (which have similar horde advantages) I don’t want to hear anything about IoC.

I’d like to agree with previous posters that Lok/Ivus need to be buffed. Currently, they are much too easy to kite away and made irrelevant.

Lok should nearly always successfully allow a reasonably organized Horde team to capture Stonehearth Graveyard, and Ivus should be strong enough to nearly always allow Alliance to capture Iceblood Graveyard.

Exactly, and more the reason to buff their damage output as well… so that they can actually “hold their own” against enemy players. The bosses doing more damage will also discourage excessive kiting, since Ivus/Lok will presumably be able to actually kill the kiters (thus discouraging the practice).

I think they should be buffed at least to the point where you need 1 player in tank spec to stand up against them. None of this “they summoned their boss? that’s ok, hunters just throw your pets at it and kite it away” crap that we see players doing.

It’s laughably easy to kite them/focus them down in their current underpowered state. The little graveyard “guard” NPCs seem to hit way harder than these 2 (so-called) raid bosses, it should’nt be like that lol

We KNOW that buffs change player behavior, they work. For example look at what happened with Galv. He got buffed with 8.0 and now Alliance tend to avoid him unless they have an actual tank and some healers, before he got buffed they would just zerg him down and he was a joke.

(40v40) epic BGs rely more on team demographics than individual skill as it hard to make an impact when you’re just one of forty. Hence, the current alliance pvp frustration re: epic randoms

/shrug

It’s been 14 years, it’s time to reduce the amount of alliance NPC sitting around the dun baulder bunkers, these guys hit hard. The alliance don’t have to fight any NPCs when they ride into frostwolf relief hut, and free cap towers.

The siege engines in IoC still do too much damage to player and cannons, the cannons are blowing up in two hits from a single demo, almost impossible to use them. Also if alliance use vehicles in the horde base, they can splash damage the horde boss from underneath and outdps the horde in a race.

Also who approved the alliance boss dagger throwing for 250k, why does he just get to delete people!?

Nah, the archer NPC’s guarding the towers/bunkers are fine imo. They’re “supposed” to hit hard. Same with the graveyard “guard” NPCs.

And yeah, the Alliance is cheating in Isle of Conquest, but I’m sure that exploit will be fixed. Just a matter of when.

Oops, wrong battleground.

You mean it favored horde and alliance whined? Lava, once spawned and moving, is closer to horde starting gate so now it spawns when the gates open giving both factions an even shot at it.
