Feedback: Epic Battlegrounds

A blue post earlier said that epic bg rewards were fixed but I am still getting only 15 conq points for my first daily win.

Not sure what is going on but it is frustrating to say the least.
Never wanted to Block Av before. Im even fine with ally getting curb stomped 86% of the time cause I love it... But i want my conq points from epic Bg and I have to keep Queuing until i get IC.
Please update AV trinkets to be decent for 120s.
Honestly horde deserve the crappy trinkets and rewards since no other group of Bgs reward the horde like this one. You are getting automatic wins. You definitely don’t deserve more handouts from blizzard, even though they’ll probably give it to you since blizzard has been biased towards the horde.
I too have seen a large increase in rushes from the Horde in AV. Regardless, those matches at least go for 15-20 minutes compared to the 10 minutes of IOC I keep getting. Whoever wins mid seems to take the win within a few minutes. However, I have rarely (0/~17 matches) seen players turtle inside the keep, which I am sure would help. I am struggling to experience the "epic" feel in IOC.

On another note, I have heard that Glaives can shoot at the floor around the keep and hit the boss. Is this true? I am already running bombs to the leader when I can, dealing the 200k damage.
You've made it a requirement now to push mid every IoC game, and which ever team wins that fight wins the BG in less than 10min.

I guess that's what you wanted? Seems like a weird thing to do though.
I wish that AV could have some sort of system to stop people from rushing. Perhaps having it so only one tower can be captured at a time? Then after it burns the next tower is opened for capture?

I know this idea is silly and ruins the idea behind AV, but I'm getting sick of all these 10-15 minute games. Where there is little to no PvPing.
Can you please clarify if it is intended that we receive 65 conquest for the first Epic win of the week instead of the day?

There has been a lot of confusion within the community due to every other PvP instance reward resetting daily.

You said you wanted to provide incentive via increased rewards for anticipating in epics, but currently they are underwhelming to say the least.
Please change the weekly bonus to a daily like the regular BG’s. If 65 is too much then drop it down to 50.

These should not be rewarding less than a regular BG.
Some observations after playing a bit at max level:

  • Need clarification on whether the Epic Battleground Conquest bonus is weekly or daily. I feel it should be daily to entice people to repeat play, rather than doing it once and then not again.
  • Is there supposed to be a weekly quest for conquest to participate in an Epic Battleground? I saw a few people mention one early on in the expansion, but haven't seen one or heard of anyone else having one lately.
  • Alterac Valley

Sadly, games seem to be reverting back to quick matches. The good news is this means Alliance is winning more. The bad news is it doesn't make for a very 'epic' experience. The games I've been in recently have been around 15-25 minutes.

I'm not sure why Horde players have stopped using their choke in most games. I haven't seen people use the upgrades since pre-patch, and I've seen an increasing number of games ending with the generals being slain.

    Isle of Conquest

The clash at the start of the match is an epic battle, but once the workshop is contested it seems to determine the outcome. Workshop is probably too good against gates. I like that the demos hurt players (unpopular opinion, I know).

Games also seem on the short side - of my last 10 games, only 2 of them have lasted longer than 25 minutes.

So beyond buffing gates and NPCs, what if there were repeatable quests (like in Ashran) in each map that encouraged PvP and went some way to stop that 'let them win' mentality?

AV: Slay 175 players - reward: 100 honor (and maybe 5x runes to return to base so people don't need to use the trinket?)

This means players, even on the losing side, can earn up to an additional 400 honor per match (assuming no towers or captains are destroyed, a 'best case scenario'). In reality it would probably be an additional 200-300 honor especially because by not destroying towers to killing the captains, you're losing out on the honor from them anyway.

IoC: Slay 150 players - reward: 100 honor

So people can earn an additional 200 honor per match for killing people. Concern here is it might encourage abuse by using vehicles to farm players, but with immunity bubbles and the incentive for the other team to fight back, I'd hope this wouldn't be too regular.
Thanks!: "Epic Battlegrounds now award bonus Conquest for first win of the day (was the first win of the week)."
    Possible exploit discovered??

Last night on my Alliance toon I played a few Isle of Conquest games and it seems we got abusively "lagged out" by the Horde team while fighting for control of mid.

A more observant teammate pointed out that the Horde team had mass-dropped a bunch of toys on the ground during the fight for the Workshop... causing massive lag and a sudden, HUGE drop in everyone's frames-per-second and thus causing us to lose the fight. There was a lot going on so I couldn't tell exactly what was happening, but I did notice my frames-per-second PLUMMET to like 5-6 FPS during the Workshop fight.

Maybe toys should simply be disabled once the "gates" of a battleground open? That's an easy way to prevent this potential exploit.

    Yeah.
Please fix IOC, defending is not a viable option as the game seems HEAVILY skewed towards an offensive, especially one with demos. Demos 2-3 shot cannons while taking so many more cannon shots to kill than that(like 10+?). Demos/siege tanks also 3 shot players.

Mid - > rush is the best way to win and has no counter play besides winning the mid fight.

Defending is far, far too weak. IOC is too fast paced and ends too quickly.
I don't understand why you put epic bgs into their own queue system, but basically didn't change them and they're still 15 minute rush games which is all they've been since you RUINED(yes, you ruined AV) AV during TBC.

When someone clicks to queue epic BG, they are saying "Yes, I want to play an epicly long battleground that can last for hours", if they simply want to play a 15 minute match, the random BG queue exists with nearly a dozen different maps for them to play.

Why can't people who want epic long bgs have them? I don't understand.

The original intention of moving the Epic Battlegrounds was to give players that wanted longer, larger fights a place to do them without disrupting the queue.

They've made tons of changes to make Isle and Alterac Valley last longer. Unfortunately, it looks like player power is overpowering the NPCs again, and players just aren't defending where they could be.

When these changes were first made, games could last up to 90 minutes - it was great. People were summoning Ivus, Lok, using upgrades in AV and people were actually defending in Isle of Conquest so games could go upwards of an hour.

Since pre-patch and now, the only thing that has changed is incentive... and unfortunately that means players are now trying to win as fast as possible.

I suggested on the last page adding quests that encourage players to kill players. Beyond increasing the health and damage of NPCs/walls, I'm not sure what else will force players to defend (aside from making it easier for Alliance to do so, perhaps?)
We're still waiting for any update on planned updates to kill the rush again.

200% buff to NPC's would be a good start.
AV is turning into a crappy race again with little combat. IoC defense is terrible due to the demos instant killing the keep cannons which is turning it into a race as well.

These BGs need to be EPIC and not end in 10-15 minutes. The PvE racing has to be stopped.
your game has failed blizz pvp is garbage and takes 25 mins to que and 1 min as alli raiding is over there is no pvp world and your gaming to keep us around for another 2 years has failed wpould say gl but your sucking money outta peole wallets that yall dont need use to develop the real wow not w/e you think makes you more money money hungry goofs!
Is there any point to corpse looting having to feel so damn clunky for the AV turn in items? Could there perhaps be an automagic tally for accumulating armor scraps from tagged kills or assisted healing etc that could then be handed in? That way peeps may be more inclined to use some of the old school buff systems in the game. Hell, maybe even an AV trinket that acts like the Azerite Necklace with a pop up ability to retrieve armor scraps near corpses?

Vaguely recall there was a similar automatic system way back in the day for a while but I believe got scrapped because of some peeps abusing/farming kills mindlessly, but surely a modern take/design on it could limit the abuse?

Not sure what is going on with the epic bg win loss ratio for me on Ally currently either, it feels like 90% loss ratio the times I play, whereas my horde char seems at
more like 60/40% win/loss. Would it hurt that much to give a loss like 5 cp so my 9 out of 10 losses on my Ally character don't feel like they were all for nothing?
Also, could we maybe bring back a BG rep grinds for each new xpac? eg. for AV you could have upgraded versions of TUF/lobotomizer (365 ilvl?), and perhaps new high res variations of the old mounts?

Each further xpac you could grandfather the old reps and have a new one replace it, eg, call the new reps Stormpike (BFA) or Frostwolf (BFA) etc, with the rewards being upgradeable as the xpac goes along.
