Play a Balance Druid currently and looking to get into melee and try it out for the first time. I have always played ranged characters (pvp and pve). Looking for a class that is more tank-like that has decent damage output as well. Was thinking of using my Guardian Druid but I want to stay DPS.
What’s your melee go-to and why?
If im looking for pure melee, theres not a more fun to play spec than fury warrior (if you have a pocket healer you’re nigh on unstoppable). Having said that I love my death knight and regardless of its state always end up going back to it. (even though currently its not fun).
And while im not good at it, Feral druid is a fun spec as well
Ret paladin is currently one of the tankiest melee dps. It also has ranged abilities that might make it an easier transition for you.
Ret has the best get out of jail free card in the game and is fairly ranged on most abilities so it’s probably the easiest to transition into. UHDK claw build would also work.
We dont recommend degeneracy to players, lizard.
Go Ret:
It’s not really melee and essentially plays with a 20 yard range.
Has multiples self-heals and the best defensive CDs in the game.
Burst and strong defensives on a 1 minute CD.
Burst is up basically a 3rd of your whole match.
Easy CC immunity
Good utility
Good uptime due to ranged attacks and anti-snare toolkit
Ret, just go make one and stop thinking about it.

I was thinking Ret, just see so many of them already though.
If you’re not sure what to do or where you stand, rogue is a good option for battlegrounds since they are really good at p*ssing people off.
Because, to put it simply, they’re just better than the rest of the melee.
In fact, outside of Evoker, I think Ret is tied with MM for the best spec for casual PvP.
Super self-reliant with a big kill window every minute. Mobility leaves something to be desired, but just buy a Dragonfruit
Retribution is the easiest melee to play in terms of survival, for sure. Fury warrior is a very strong 1v1 class with it’s passive self-healing and actually does well against rets in 1v1s with shattering throw.
