I would like to begin by expressing that a 5,000 gold cost for maximum flight skill feels excessively high. However, if this were implemented as a communal upgrade or structured similarly to heroic keys, the expense would be far less burdensome and would make the investment feel significantly more worthwhile.

I never got it this go around, the economy is too expensive to bother with and I’m not confident I’ll be around for WoTLK. Don’t really need it to raidlog.

Does a riding skill give you an edge in any aspect other than travel? I don’t think it would be a pay to win feature I just think that it is an utter waste to buy it more than once and think if you grind out the 5k and purchase it then all your toons should get it or have a communal purchase after the fact that you can buy for like 1500g so that your alts also have fast flying.
Just ask the peasants on the ground or flying 60% mounts complaining they are losing to the “bots”

I kinda think that would be a great way to help combat the bots if you did that for real players to compete against them in gathering but, I guess you are right it is pay to be able to grab herbs and stuff faster.
still easier to Raid log and let someone else do the hard work for you.
Can’t Monetize and make everything convenient otherwise there wouldn’t even be a reason to log in.
Well mostly travel, but it also opens an additional daily quest hub next phase, and is prerequisite for an idol that buffs your auras if you’re druid.
Epic flying is a luxury, not a requirement
if you want everything to be account-wide for free, retail is right there

No, it would actually make the bot problem worse. Communal epic flying doesn’t “help real players compete” it lets bot farms run multiple gathering bots on the same account, rotating between locations nonstop. Epic flying is supposed to be a gold sink. Turning it communal would remove that sink entirely and make botting even more profitable.
You’re imagining a benefit that doesn’t exist. In reality, communal flying would supercharge bot efficiency and make the situation way worse.
I do NOT like account bound things - but … if they implemented the book you could later on buy for your alts, then you could have the flying for your alts cheaper, and I could still pay the full price.

It technically does since faster flight gets you more profession nodes. Plus who doesnt wanna fo fast xD
Better idea is to just increase the base flyer to 150% like in wrath.

Better idea, just wait for wrath.
Riding 300 is one of the biggest gold sinks in the game, and if you think inflation is bad now, changing that in any way would make inflation infinitely worse.
I doubt we’re getting wrath tbh.
I don’t understand why the boosts didn’t at least come with first aid or cooking or fishing already leveled up.
