Ah yes, cringe. Which apparently means having any emotion other than ironic dissatisfied detachment.
I’d already buried Sylvanas. But despite myself, despite all evidence to the contrary, I secretly hoped perhaps they might be able to at least make her a memorable villain by the end.
But this is just embarrassing. What a waste of time.
I saw the cinematic and thought, “Oh, wow! Blizz is really trying to entice Sylvanas fans back with the very thing they told us we never had, after a decade of us enjoying it”. The problem is, when you take it away so spectacularly, you’ve told people not to put their hopes in it, even when it’s there…
if i´m allowed to remember you, if people even have suggested to kill sylvanas…even in good faith arguments…it was litteraly ending in an flamewar…many many people suggested sylvanas to end this story…many people, without a torture porno…without any further question, killed through tyrande in an epic fight, …but na…we were so mean, we were litteraly called misogynist
Yeah because a lot of people were weird about it. I remember people agreeing with me saying Arthas should kill her and good God no Jesus Christ no. That would’ve been 9 types of wrong.
But the Forsaken? God it would be fun if that last cinematic was abruptly ended with:
“DID YOU THINK WE HAD FORGOTTEN?! DID YOU THINK WE HAD FORGIVEN?!”
beliefe me, i would have prefered if elune kills zovaal too, “Do you think i would forgive you for torturing my children?”
the real night warrior appears, the goddes herself,to claim zovaals soul for his wronging and destroying him to claim justice for the dead ones but…na…we got nothing in this regard.
sylvanas did all type of horrible crimes aswell…and forsaken player simply expected from others to accept it without creating hard feeling against that?
…As much as you can hate Sylvanas, a character with almost 20 years of history deserves a more dignified end than a simple execution, I agree with the Forsaken/Sylvanas fans in this regard.
I just… Warcraft was never highbrow writing, but there was still something brilliant and gripping about Monsters That Aren’t Monsters. Sylvanas and the Forsaken were the greatest personification of that, gallows humor and all, and it is absolutely depressing to see all of that dumpstered to repeatedly retreat into generic tropes.
And I say that as Not a Fan of Sylvanas at any period of the game, although the Forsaken aesthetic was always delightful.
Hei, to be really fair, the fanbase was always a bit blind on that eye, or only half-heartedly looked, as an alliance player Sylvanas has clearly not been an anti-hero for a very long time but a clear Villian, bfa only centered that even more.
Pre-Cata was fine. Alliance did enough bad that some tension was justified. After that, everyone seems to have decided the Monsters should be Monsters again, and again, and again, all while insisting they aren’t but taking every opportunity to show that they are.
