PvP server Faction population caps

Blizzard, you’re making the same mistake on PvP servers, that you did in retail for the longest time.

Illidan on retail for the longest after BC was like 98% horde.
Kel’thuzad, same thing :Alliance
Darkspear same thing :Alliance
Mal’ganis: Horde

Those are some of the big players on retail for the longest that had massive population imbalances until you introduced this toggle B.S. that’s available on retail.

OH and that PvP toggle was just a bandaid on a gushing wound, along with CRZ etc. You guys don’t have the vision to see beyond 3 days from now, do ya ?:thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking:

All of these pvp servers, and you guys couldn’t think that putting a faction cap on a server was something even in the works worthwhile of an idea to be looked at ???

Well, “ya dun’ guf’d” again.

I’ve suggested numerous times in general discussion, technical support, submitted ticket requests, and everything. You guys are looking to have a repeat of Classic doing the same exact thing. :man_shrugging: don’t say i didn’t try to warn you.

Can confirm, Rattlegore feels like it is 98% horde

this is exactly why i chose to play on a PvE server instead of a PvP one. I knew this faction imbalance would take way soon. PvP servers eventually turn into a PvE server because there’s either too much of the enemy so you’re finding ways to avoid them, or There’s not enough enemies so you’re essentially just fighting amongst each other for resources/quests etc.

Then why not roll on a pvp realm instead of carebear?? You’re fighting for resources regardless…

But i concur with the OP that a faction should be ‘capped’ once they’ve reached a critical mass… but i also don’t want blizzard to release exact numbers, otherwise it will form a bias and people will gravitate to the larger side for fear of actually having to pvp in a game with the premise of two warring factions…

Here’s my reasoning as to why i specifically chose carebear.

Yeah it’s quite hilarious. Skeram seems to be massively horde favored atm.

Stalagg is def Horde favored. Anywhere I go to level there are so much Horde everywhere. I picked Stalagg since it seeemed like one of the more “balanced” servers pre-launch due to the polls. But after all the new servers opening up and transfers I wouldn’t be shocked if I found out it was 65%+ Horde

I don’t know anything about the servers that are available in classic or their populations of each faction…i just know, now that people are starting to get on up in their mid 30s, they’re starting to see each other more and i’ve already seen 3 threads that are filled with forum tears about people getting mercilessly ganked in extremely unfavourable odds. I told blizzard this multiple times on their forums and in tickets…but hey, what do i know.

I think skeram is like 30/70 ally/horde. It feels that way at least.

this isn’t the place to talk about your specific server issues, it’s to address a glaring issue that plagued all of retail from Vanilla until WoD was released.

The factions became either so imbalanced it was like a ghost town for one side of the faction, or smaller servers became more empty because people wanted a larger pool of players and they migrated off thus compounding their already abysmal population (high end progression guilds/2400+ Arena and RBG players etc) to play with and a lot of time, major players were on pvp servers which were generally skewed to one faction or the other.

If you don’t like the game, don’t play, dude.

Trying to balance the factions perfectly on servers is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of. Nobody forced you to roll horde on X server or alliance on Y server, get over it.

I’m on Stalagg hordeside. This is absolutely correct. I was in paranoid PvP-mindset before going into my first contested zone, then started to realize most of the people I saw were just horde. The few alliance I see know that since there are so many horde around, if they start crap they’re sure to get ganged up on and camped, so they’re as docile as neutral mobs most of the time.

Saw a high-level druid gank someone at Nessy’s. 7 horde literally came out of the trees, stomped them, /spit and set up a camp SO fast. Easy to see why Alliance is terrified. It’s horribly imbalanced numbers-wise.

Faction imbalance can ruin the experience of entire servers. A cap isn’t very vanilla, but they really should have done something. I went with Stalagg for my friends and I because the poll showed a 51/49 split not counting undecided people. That has not at all been the case.

Faction population caps would have made the absolute most sense. Too many Horde? Queue. Meanwhile Alliance has no queue. Honestly, this would have been brilliant. I never thought of it and now that you’ve brought it up, I’m aghast that it wasn’t thought of and implemented.

I see a problem, i think of logical, and logistical solutions to them. Just saying.

I don’t fight back on Stalagg or start fighting because of this. Anytime I even TRIED to do any WPvP as Alliance on here Horde would literally come out of the ground in massive numbers and kill me. STV is so bad right now with this, but so isn’t Arathi, Desolace, Swamp of Sorrows/Duskwallow Marsh, etc. So I just ignore any Horde I come across, unless they are actively trying to kill me or taking my spot.

BLIZZARD HAD 15 YEARS TO FIX THINGS.

they easily could have done the follow to fix balance issues on PVP servers.

  • Allow Transfer Per server to other servers and have Faction side lockage.
    1. Server A (Horde Heavy) Allow X-fer to Server B (that is Alliance Heavy) - With a Cap to try a 1:1 ratio
  • Release a Faction “%” bar under the Faction icons when creating toons to allow people to see the ratio.
    1. Since Blizzard doesn’t want to release Numbers of Active users, at least give the Consumer the chance to view Faction Ratio when wanting to pick and choose a server.

been saying this since the release of Classic. 15 years and they yet to fix major issues that occur across all servers and Faction imbalance. Yet, they claim to “listen to the people.”

jeeze… and here i thought that blizzard would actually get their shizz together and keep the same plaguing problems OUT of their beautiful franchise.

At the end of the day though…NOT MY PROBLEM. I’m rolling carebear for this exact reason. But,…I unlike some blizzard developers have the foresight to see further into the future about the decisions being made in the game. Now…if i could just take that kinda foresight into IRL man, i’d be much better off !!! LOL…

The game is still great compared to any other game out there…but this is something blizzard desperately needs to do, and should have done.

PvP server players… you guys are getting screwed but you keep handing them the KY oils so it doesn’t hurt as bad (by you keeping on logging in)

OH well.

I mean, I don’t mind being the underdog and me making a premade to roflstomp WSG/AB is soon to come. but when not having a premade really sucks whether it’s horde or alliance bg’s being one sided game after game after game… But non the less, I don’t disagree with you at all… this game now (classic) is better than retail and brings back a lot of fun like I had back in vanilla.

kinda why i chose to go to a PvE server myself…if i do dabble in PvP, i’ve got around ~2k xp In arenas and RBGs so i should be fine

Supposedly Rattlegore is about even, however I agree it feels mostly horde. I think part of the problem is a majority of alliance players are under level 30, so they’re still in alliance only zones, so zones 30-45, which already favor horde, feel extremely horde heavy.

Stranglethorne Vale and Hillsbrad Foothills are literally unplayable as alliance on this server. I had to abandon both zones and grind mobs to get levels.
