He also said RNG is however an important part of RPGs and at some point if you don’t like it. you will just have to live with it. Paraphrasing of course.
Shad’har. Both of us were standing right next too each other the whole fight and got the same amount of blobs on us. I literally out dpsed him by around 20% (that 20k) purely based on luck. He actually played slightly better than me.
Yes but with covenants someone who happen to pick the one that got buffed the most will be doing more damage than the guy with more skill because he picked one that happened to get a nerf (because it was the OP one at the start most likely).
What, you think that has been mostly true up until SLs? I mean even now with the most systems we have ever seen, most havoc DHs are running the same builds, using mostly the same gear, essences and corruptions in raids, Mythic+ or PvP.
Hell even in Legion we are basically cookie cutter versions of one another.
Every single expansion has been the same. Its Not new and as long as the game remains challenging people will adopt whatever the best players are doing to improve their chances at success.
That just goes back to there always being RNG in the game though.
If we equalize even the skill between two players, the one who does higher DPS will be the one who got luckier on crits even if we return to Vanilla era design where there was very few if any RNG procs.
Somebody might say that it’s much worse than it used to be, but that’s why I brought up that they’re toning it down.
Otherwise yes, RNG is inherent to RPGs and people will have to live with that.
This isn’t RNG though and just goes in a circle back to my original point about how often in the game’s history you won on the DPS meters because of your class/spec being stronger.
They can’t the problem has been around since vanilla, people will gravitate to the optimal build. We have been doing it since it launch, SLs was never going to change. Here, let’s stay you get guys get your wet dream and we can freely switch covenant and conduits at will. You know what will happen? The best simming ones will be the most played one, just like today with every other system in BFA.
We have never had a chance for more diversity of style in game play then now but I but most don’t use it because it’s not optimal for their game play.
In all honesty Blizzard better cater to people like Preach at this point because they killed off the other side a long time ago. This game has catered to players like him for several expansions now. To do an about face turn and expect people who want to play an actual online rpg to come back at this point after spitting on them for years is a very risky thing to try.
i don’t currently have an issue with the covenants being a hard choice. i get the minmaxing crap, but i don’t really care, and i plan to go necrochad on most of my characters anyway.
the only thing that will absolutely piss me off is if i lose mounts/mogs/pets(yes, i’m making fun of my own “mogs, mogs, cheevos!” nature).
the thing that bothers me is conduits. making conduits get destroyed is an absolutely idiotic move that needs to be stopped, shouldn’t have even been on the beta. they need to work kinda like the old glyph system, where you have a panel to the side that you chose from as you attain them and unlock them.
conduits are going to be the absolutely most cancerous thing in shadowlands if they don’t change it.
Translation:“Preach stop talking about how bad Shadow Priest is right now!!”
At this point I am starting to trust Preach’s word more than most of the Developers. At least he’s blunt with most of his appraisals, and he sure as hell didn’t sit on Shadow Priest doing nothing meaningful for 75+ days, only to then claim: “…Oh we have no time to fix it and do a extensive redesign of Voidform. Maybe… next… expansion. Maybe.”
Typically, when people are DPS racing on the meters they compare themselves more to those of the same class. At least that’s what I do since you can find a way to get better at your class if you are being out played or get satisfaction that you are playing at a higher level than someone else. I remember in Legion while I was playing my shadow priest another guy was doing huge damage that I was not so I asked him about it and he gave me tips to improve my gameplay. With covenants I may ask and they may respond with “IDK man since your a kyrian”.
They said they heard the feedback and they’re looking into a solution. I would ask you what more would you want, but if you’re a crazy person you may take that as an open invitation, so I’m just going to say that for most rational people, saying they’re looking into a solution is about as much as a commitment as you might hope to get.
