Eye of Kezan is a Trap!

Next week we’ll be able to purchase the trinkets of our choosing and I would advise any Priests planning on taking the Eye of Kezan to reconsider.

It takes too long to gain stacks. The maximum stacks only come at the very end of the fights. You’re losing primary stat bonus until at least halfway through the fight. The healing that it does at max stacks is literally my worst healing, below even my racial ability.

The stacks fall off FAST. It’s pretty useless in a dungeon setting.

Learn from my mistake, take the Moxi Jug instead.

The eye is better than jug for raid but is average M+ trink; the jug is still solid in raid and great in M+, from purely an HPS standpoint.

It isn’t a trap as much as EoK being an item that requires understanding the context behind the item.

But yes, in general, healers should be picking Mister Pick Me Up instead, then the second trinket/cantrip depending on which content you intend to focus on.

Personally as a holy priest, I would go MisterPMU->EoK->Jastor since I really only care about mythic raiding, and then if I have spare dinars maybe Chromebustible Bomb Suit or Gallagio Bottle Service if I feel like doing higher keys.

Never used EoK, but even on paper it seemed like a bad choice given ramp time. At 5 procs per minute, it’d take roughly 2 minutes to provide primary stat equal to a regular stat trinket, and 4 minutes to reach full stacks. You’ll only have fights lasting that long in the highest of key bosses or raid.

Meanwhile, Gallagio Bottle absolutely pumps and gives you another cooldown in all levels of play and Mister Pick-me-up is just decent stats and free healing. If you have neither of these, I’d prioritize them if you want ease of play.

Moxie jug is also a really good one with tons of crit.

I’ll agree with Bananakitten about Chromebustible Bomb Suit if you want to push high keys though, the extra survivability is key.

If your group can chain pull trash mobs in dungeons you can keep EoK stacks for most of the run.

This has been known since the PTR.

Its a progression trinket. Still good if youre needing to push prog

Only if you can sustain the mana/your team can control incoming damage.

Of course…it’s not something you’ll be able to do all the time with random people.
I was mostly saying this as it’s my experience playing with my friends.

About 2.3 minutes. 10 stacks isn’t equivalent to a regular trinket. It’s between 11 and 12. It means that, at a minimum, the fight needs to last at least 4.6 minutes for it to average out to a primary stat trinket.

As we get more powerful the fights will get shorter.

I’m just saying that people should reconsider it. Not don’t get it, just reconsider. I think Moxi Jug would have been a better choice for me. I was pretty underwhelmed by the performance of this trinket. And as an aside, I’ve had problems with too much Mastery this season. I got rid of the Jaster diamond and now I’m stacking Versatility on my crafted gear because I’m capped on Mastery (21,000) and starving for up to 28,000 critical strike (I should have crafted the single stat engineering hat).

Fair enough.

It’s my personal opinion that stat diminishing returns don’t really matter for Mastery and Versatility since they will work every single time without fail. Haste will have you hit the GCD cap, crit is still gambling to a certain extent, but Holy Priest mastery will always do it’s job, so I don’t worry about diminishing returns until the -20% mark.

I did do Mastery/Versatility during S3 of Shadowlands and it was very fun. It won’t have the big oomph of landing a crit, but the survivability and steady increases made it very fun for me. I’m unsure if the lack of crit will allow you to fill health bars as quickly since the HP scaling increases going into TWW, but you’re more than welcome to try it. I don’t think you’re hitting the content where the versatility will affect your personal survivability however.

In my opinion, it depends on what the content you are doing. If the fight is going to be longer than 6 minutes then Eye is amazing, it loses value in shorter fights. In Raid this might push the value of Eye up.

Regardless your first stop is the MugJug. If you do too many things that Eye will feel like a hindrance, then go for Jasper’s Diamond next. If not going Eye the last item to use would be House of Cards. Playing Shadow, you will not use it when it comes off CD if you use Void Eruption, as you will want to tie the two together in a macro. If you go Dark Ascension you will likely use it every other Ascension.

Real Holy Priests use Priory + Apotheosis.

I mean, that seems like the easiest way to macro it since they share a cooldown!

Priory and mr pick me up master race

I passed up a Myth Priory for a Heroic Jastor Diamond and I feel great regret.
