Was this the case with the second pet before? I thought pet follow used to call them off. It does not. You animal companion will not be called off by petfollow.
Second pet should do whatever you tell the first pet to do. It still works this way for me. However, if your first pet dies, the second pet becomes uncontrollable until you rez the first pet.
