Just curious but does any other game on the market EVER have 12 hour maintenance, let alone weekly down times that are more than a couple minutes?

Must be new to wow Patch day wow is always normally down 12+ hours
This is the first time I have seen them go 12 hrs for patch…the longest one before this one was during LK when we got the patch called “Call of the Crusade”…we were down for 10 hrs …came up and within 30 mins all realms around the world crashed and stayed crashed for over 30+ hours before they could get them back up.

Yeah been here thru some bad patch days for sure just was curious if other games have this same sort of issue…I have personally never seen this sort of thing in other games but this is the only MMO i play regularly so was curious…never seen a 12 hour patch for anything else I play on the reg. This is getting old in WoW though, you’d think billions in income would translate to a desire for game to be down as little as possible rather than the “that is just how it is” thing we get from Blizz
FFXIV patches typically take 24 hours or more. WOW has very little downtime for an MMO.

Did not know that thanx, have only played FFXIV a little bit and never seen a patch day i guess.
While this is true, FFXIV also tends to know their downtime in advance and are usually complete with patches on time or early.

See i think this is my bigger problem with how WoW does it, it is almost NEVER accurate which seems like shoddy work to me.
This is true. There is a problem with expectations. FFXIV they just tell everyone the game is down for 24 hours, and they get them up on time or early. Blizzard likes to make “low” estimates and keep extending it, which creates an optics problem.
If it’s going to take 12 hours, just announce at the beginning that it will take 12 hours, then people will be pleasantly surprised when it comes up early.

This is my biggest beef when it comes to patch days. I know the realms are going to be down for good portions of the day and I understand why, but I just wish Blizzard would just immediately say realms will be down 12+ hours, especially with a patch like this. I knew the realms were not going to be up by their original 3PM PDT goal.
